Rear wheel burnout?

So, Before the MODS try and lock this, I want to say I was in no way trying to do any illegal act, or aggressive driving.


Now on to the issue(back story first). It was approx. 0705 this morning and i was heading home from work. I pulled up to a stop light (completely). Engine temp was reading normal (middle of gauge). The weather was humid this morning, no rain last night(i was outside working since 2300). The stoplight turns green and I press on the skinny pedal (not to fast, not slamming it) and I was not on the brake at all. My rear tires spin so much as to cause some smoke and the tires spin for approx 7 seconds before my truck propels me to 50mph. I then press the brake and slow down to 45 and pull over to the nearest parking lot to inspect the tires. No sign of wear ( they have almost 15k on them). I cant seem to figure out why I spun tires. My tank had less then a quarter of gas. And I don't have a spare under the bed. Could it be the lack of weight over the Axel? Or s it a sign i need to change out the rear diff fluid? Please, any input will be much appreciated

 

Well, the first part of your post would have been awesome, but ive been on TW long enough to know Our trucks don't have that. Becuz i would have heard and threw it in all of the domestic truck owners faces. Sounds great though...

Any recent road work (Paving, painting, ect ect) recent in the area??
Made any changes in the truck?? Battery disconnects, wiring, anything like that?

 

Where were your rear tires on that big white line? If so then the humidity/fog could have made it wet and there is your burnout.

the road was paved about about a month ago. No recent mods to the truck.

Possibly a one tire fire? If thats the case it was loud as hell. But thanks for the help

So far, the possibilities are:
One tire fire
Wet spot on the road

 

Road was recently repaved, if they recently did the striping (like that day), then the road surface may have been covered with glass beads from the striping crew.

They shoot the paint, then a guy comes along behind the painter with a bucket of glass beads and throws them on the paint. Sometimes they go a little crazy, and though they are supposed to, they rarely sweep up what doesn't stick... they just figure it'll blow/wash away.

If it was at a traffic signal and they just installed new detector loops, the sand that they spread over the sealant will have the same impact on traction.

OP, there may be several reasons why you broke traction - dew, oil, sand etc.
However, next time if something like this happens, just let off the skinny pedal - there is no reason to let this go on for 7 seconds. If you just lift your foot to let the wheels slow down, you will regain traction, and then you can slowly put your foot back down again.

Burn outs are cool, my little Sport lays down two nice black marks when asked. Not for any 7 seconds though.
