So my truck has been running really rough and misfiring a lot. I went and had the codes pulled up and it said there was multiple cylinder misfires and the camshaft position sensor failure. Well the guy told me that sometimes that the sensor will throw everything off. It's not that expensive of a part so I get one hoping to fix the problem.

Well here's the problem, I don't know where the hell it's at under the hood! I've looked online and keep getting multiple answers. Some say it's built into the distributor and others say its on the opposite side of the engine.

Anyone care to chime in on where it's at and how to fix it?

    I have a 1995 4x4 3rz M/T

Now I am reading that 1995.5-1996 3rz's don't have a sensor at all. It was just built into the distributor. So does this mean I have to buy a new distributor?

Try changing out your distributor cap and plug wires. Generally they go bad and dont produce a good enough spark. Which can cause a misfire. Im not familiar with the 3RZ engine so someone else might be able to help better.

I did that when it first started misfiring. It's looking like I'm going just have to get a whole new distributor..

If anybody else has this problem, a new distributor fixed my truck.
