Cool video. Freeze does a great job editing the videos from that group. That's a pretty good sample of what the trail is like, still didn't see any shots of the optional hard stuff so what you saw in the video is pretty much what to expect.

Whitecloud your truck would make it but your weakness will be the length of the truck. You'll drag your rear end a lot and I'll be honest there are some tight sections on the trail with LARGE boulders, and I would expect some body damage to your bedsides if I were you. Otherwise you'll be fine. Lack of a locker is gonna make things pretty tough too. Even one locker is a really good idea on the Rubicon, two is ideal obviously.

Few pics from one of our past Rubicon trips. We had 5 trucks attempt the Little Sluice that day (all FJ40s). First one broke both front axles and both front hubs at the same time near the start of the obstacle. The second truck broke a front axle. Third truck broke a rear axle. My friend Dan was next. He didn't break but got about halfway through and couldn't make forward progress and winched out the side of the obstacle. I went last and was the only one to make it through that day without breakage or damage.

This is my fiend Dan in the most famous optional hard obstacle on the trail, the Little Sluice. Yeah the rocks are big on the Rubicon.

This is about where Dan had to winch out the side of the obstacle.

    Ready to winch out.

The next major optional hard section of the trail is the Old Sluice which has some tight sections and more big boulders. The FJ40 that broke the rear axle in the Little Sluice completely blew apart his steering box coming over the rock in this pic. Made for a long night for part of the group to get off the trail and drive to Reno for parts, then back into the trail to repair the truck just to get it off the obstacle.
My FJ40 in the Old Sluice.

spare parts are probably the most important lol. Well that and I need more armor. And what good is a crawl box if your back axle becomes useless the second a tire lifts? Dude, locker before crawl box for sure.
