Was a disgruntled E4 crew chief when I left active duty. Now I'm in the Reserves working full time as a disgruntled WG-10 civilian and then disgruntled E5 once weekend a month, 2 weeks a year. Nevertheless, still a grease monkey

Hello from Pensacola! Are you headed to VT-86? I'm Air Force, across the street in the Combat Systems Officer course (the Navy NFO equivalent). If you need any info on Pensacola, the base, etc, send me a message.

Oh Yes, Pensacola. Did two stints there, first was a student at Corry Sta. "Hated that place!" Then later as a Rescue swimmer instructor at NAS. Much more fun! Loved watching the Blue Angels practice every week.

"No" military people should never post salary. Too depressing!

Ens. Best of luck in flight school! When you finish your training and are assigned, always remember. Navy Chiefs can make or break you! Take care of your Chief.

I fucked up, I should have enlisted and did my 20 yrs in the Military and then went to the USPS for anther 20 yrs. Could have retired at age 58 with two fucking pensions... Not sure if this still works for the younger crowd, rules may have changed...

Should have/could have bullshit...Listen to your elders!!!

    .
Actually more "kinda retirements" than you mentioned ... in the old days (before changes) ... you could have had 3 retirements ... plus a 4th (kinda retirement) if you got military CRSC (with no VA offset) too.

    (1) Military (20 years) ... (2) USPS (20 years) ... (3) SSA at 62 ... (4) CRSC (with no VA offset) possibly from military for combat injury = 4 dipper.

PS ... Some of the rules have changed today ... but you can still get some sweet deals after putting in 20 in the military.

    ... ^^^ ... SSA = Social Security Administration at 62 y/o or higher.

CRSC = Combat Related Service Compensation.
