FWIW- I was loosely following cycling and I will follow it less now. The have USADA are bringing down a sport. Who wants to follow a sport where the winner today will very likely be stripped of the win YEARS later.

Cycling is like every other sport and outdoor activity that has been marketed and promoted beyond simple participation into a brand and status symbol/lifestyle. It's much better to just get out and do it and than to succumb to supporting the vanity and vexation promoters peddle. Shallow consumers have allowed promoters ruin sporting under the guise of supporting their outdoor passion.

There is no cure for AIDS. Even Magic says he is not cured, he is just in remission and recovery. There is a difference between having AIDS and being HIV positive also.

You get hammered on for years about being guilty, you going to hold on? Some people get tired of the constant battle. I don't for a second believe he is guilty just because he has finally said he is giving up the fight.

What I found hilarious is that on one of the music channels last night, there was a twitter feed from Snoop Dogg stating something to the words of "It is sad to hear that NEIL Armstrong is being stripped of his 7 TDF titles"
He was not the only one who called him "NEIL" Armstrong on those Twitter feeds. lmfao

I still really enjoyed his books.....but no more Livestrong or Lance affiliated products for me anymore. Not that I really partook in the first place, but my fandom is definitely in jeopardy.
Thanks for the interesting posts everyone.

I was really taken aback by the report that Livestrong did not support cancer treatment research (LaRue iirc).
Anyway, I decided to lookup Livestrong (aka Lance Armstrong Foundation) on the BBB and the organization does rank their seal of approval. Just a small excerpt for the BBB report on LAF:

LAF provides grants for cancer survivorship research; grants to community organizations; delivery of cancer survivorship education and support services; and grants to survivorship centers at academic medical institutions. In addition, LAF focuses on building partnerships with other national organizations and individuals to enlist them in the fight to establish high quality services and policies benefiting those affected by cancer. LIVESTRONG® Young Adult Alliance works to improve the survival rates and quality of life for young adults living with cancer. LIVESTRONG® Survivorship Center of Excellence Network is an initiative to create and maintain a network of survivorship centers that fosters collaboration to increase the impact in cancer survivorship. LAF funds programs initiated at community-centered non-profit organizations and agencies that cover topics such as general cancer survivorship education and support, physical activity, exercise and nutrition for cancer survivors, and pain, palliative and end-of-life care. LIVESTRONG® SurvivorCare provides cancer survivors with information, referrals, case management and patient navigation, allowing them to identify and address critical cancer-related issues and communicate with their health care team. The program assists cancer survivors in managing the physical, emotional and practical aspects of their cancer experience, including psychosocial support, patient navigation services, and matching to cancer clinical trials.

For the year ended December 31, 2008, LAF's program expenses were:

    Grants and programs 13,485,452
    Education and program development 7,268,168
    Grassroots advocacy 3,800,251
    Programs and policy 1,962,285
    Government relations 997,955
    Total Program Expenses: $27,514,111

Call me a fool, that's just fine with me. But as far as I see, there's no proof. And with that, I will always look up to Lance and the Lance Armstrong foundation, LiveStrong.

Actually, I'm not sure he is. He might be good to you if you have something to benefit him, but I think he is a shrewd businessman and tactician who will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. Hopefully if one of us is stopped alongside the road in need of help he would assist.....oh wait this is a Toyota forum:D
But yeah, I agree with Baby.

After reading this thread. I am swayed by some of the comments from people actually in the sport. I don't think as highly as I did, that is for sure...

Lance is basically the Madonna of cycling, and what I mean by that's he is a product, and one of his own making. Everything he does and every relationship he has serves a purpose. The thing is, though, I don't think he is entirely conscious of it. I'm not sure he knows how to not live as a product. I don't think he's capable of having interactions without having a purpose for his "product".

this^. also not sure how the American Anti-Doping Association has the authority to "strip" his Tour de France titles. Especially when the International Cycling Association had already announced they were dropping his case due to lack of evidence against him. The International Cycling Association would be the ones to strip his titles if anyone does.

Without Lance and Nike, the foundation will suffer. The sad thing is that the Livestrong foundation and the Pink Ribbon one, all they do is raise awareness. They have no medical facility with doctors runnins experiments. No labs or anything. Yet they bring in a ton of money and it basically goes to t shirts and events.

Regards to Lance, The best cyclists ever, most likely cheated but then again so did everyone else.
