Its Rhino Liner gents. their Tuff Grip spray. My buddy at work likes to throw rocks at it as we walk out to our trucks to go home. They arent small rocks. at first i would be a little worried but after he tossed a few i realized it would take a pretty big one to do some damage!

No problems whatsoever and they have a lifetime guarantee for peeling bubbling cracking etc... it was 2700 for everything. Compare that to a basic paint job and you can see why it was a no brainer!
I almost forgot though. make sure they dont hack up your rain gutters and stuff between the doors and the body. when they spray, it will cover that gap and they have to cut it to open your door. they put the razor too deep and cut mine a little but it still functions so no worries there. just a friendly rminder to them when and if they do yours.

    What about the extra weight?

I've thought about doing the rockers and flares...

well they say its about 30lbs for a bed so i figure with the surface area its like i'm carrying another person in the truck with an average weight of course... i have not lost any power at all thats for sure. one thing i have been told is that it will be hard to be hit by radar because of the texture of the Rhino Line. evidently it brakes up the radar and makes it bleed off of it...who knows..anyone got a confirmation on that one?ive heard it from more than one person on more than one occasion so im starting to believe it

I would find that hard to believe that it breaks up the radar. All radar needs is a flat surface. If anything it could ABSORB radar, but I doubt that. If you want to be avoidable by radar, there shouldn't be any surfaces that can directly reflect it. Someone was just feeding you a line because they didn't know any better. I may not use police radar guns, but I do use a little more sophisticated radar system :p http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AN/APG-66

Actually i believe the theory was that it breaks it up because it is not a smooth surface. In my line of work we have a sight system that uses a laser range finder and it can tell you distance out to 8000 meters...a few things happen to the laser...it gets bigger and also it will tend to get broken up when it runs into rough surfaces and objects in the way etc... so i know the theory is plausibe when it comes to the science but who the hell knows, Not me thats for sure. To be fair to the people who have said this to me, they were not saying it can't radar you but that it will have trouble doing it. one guy said he had a buddy get pulled over because he has an offroad jeep and he did the same thing. the cop is the one who told him that and that is where he heard it. in the end...i dont really care one way or the other. I'll rely on somewhat proven science call a Radar Detector :) and all i know is that it looks great.

Sounds like this is a job for MythBusters!
Oh yeah and after seeing all this BHLM stuff going around I think that is going to be on my list of "to dos" for sure.

$2700...Its worth it though. Temecula wanted 3000 so when i was home on leave in Northern Idaho i had it done there for 2700. But thats the ballpark you will be in.

How about wind drag on it? I have always heard that just primer causes drag so having that on there would create more drag IMO

Yeah with the texture of this stuf i'm sure i'm getting some wind drag...but i drove down here to so cal last year after it was done and i didnt see much of a change in fuel economy...it still sucks haha :) I drive to Coeur D Alene Idaho from here and its quite a ways so figured it wasnt hurting me that much. not like there is really a way to undo it!

You're talking about lasers, totally different. I could believe that lasers wouldn't be able to reflect back to the source because of their size vs the roughness. Their wavelength is in nanometers as well. RADAR however is going to be a little different and alot of it depends on the wavelength and amplitude I would think. A little google search told me that older radars have larger wavelengths. To me this means they are less likely to get broken up by an uneven surface.

Newer radars on the other hand like Ka band have smaller wavelengths, down around .30 inches, and would POSSIBLY get broken up more easily.

Anyways, if anyone knows a cop who would be willing to experiment with this, I'd say go for it and bust this myth right away. There are ALOT of factors that you would need to employ to actually pull this off anyways, you can't just paint your truck and expect a cop to not be able to gun you.

I'm going to bring this question in to work with me tommorow. Our tech rep may know a little more about this than I.

Lets make sure we realize that doing this to my truck had nothing to do with the topic at hand so i didnt expect to be "ungunnable" (like that new word, i think i just coined that:cool:). this is just something that others have brought up to me before.

yeah i'd be a little curious to know what the answer is from someone who knows alot more than me... so pretty much anyone will do:D. I have a brother in law that is a cop maybe i can have him zap me one day but thats a couple months away until i will be in his area. let me know what you find out so i can have a reply for these guys that were most likely blowing smoke out thier ass.

That truck is going to look like crap after a year or 2. It will be grey. Good luck with re-sale value but other that that it is neat I guess.
