This one is probably going to effect us most. Conspiracy theories are cool and all, but this is for real.

I've had many knives over the years. I've settled with , Knives of Alaska.
Ulu,meat cleaver,Skinner with gut hook, and a caping knife. A Gerber hatchet thrown in there, that's all enough for me.

Being a Corpsman and having done 2 combat tours I have thought long and hard about the survival aspect of what one should carry in vehicle and personal bag. I myself have an IFAK, knife, zip ties, bungie cords, 550 cord, along with several other items.

First aid kit should contain: Quikclot gauze, israeli battle dressings, gorilla glue, zip ties, hemostats, snip scissors, kerlix bandages, NPA (no need for an OPA) and the such. Amazon list: http://www.amazon.com/lm/RW2K3R5PNSHLW/ref=cm_lm_pthnk_view?ie=UTF8&lm_bb=

Check out the Henry AR-7 (self collapsing .22lr rifle) Similar design to what the USAF uses for pilots and air crews.

Just some things to think about. I have the experience that the military has offered in attending multiple schools (cold weather medicine in the sierra nevedas {11000ft up} jungle warfare training center {okinawa} OEMS {pig lab}) Also I am a TCCC and CLS instructor.

    Got questions just ask....BTW

    I LOVE THIS THREAD!

cant wait to see the final product! awesome knife. i see your stitched leather sheath, looks good, but have you considered folding it inside out to hide the stitching on the inside? much like a t shirt, so the actual leather edges are inside and giving you a smooth stitch outside? it may be too late since the smooth part of the leather is on the outside. just a thought. then again that's probably some thick leather

This is my Tacoma. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My Tacoma is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My Tacoma, without me, is useless. Without my Tacoma, I am useless. I must drive my Tacoma true. I must drive straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must drive over him before he drives over me. I will...
My Tacoma and myself know that what counts in this war is not the roads we drive, the noise of our Tacoma, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the trips that count. We will drive...

My Tacoma is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its brake and its clutch. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage as I will ever guard my legs, my arms, my eyes and my heart against damage. I will keep my Tacoma clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God, I swear this creed. My Tacoma and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace!

Here are a couple additional items to add to your BOV. I switched from a tent to the Clark Jungle Hammock over a year ago and I will never go back to a tent. It has the ability to be setup as a bivy if there no trees to use. Otherwise its the most comfortable way to sleep. I have 3 herniated discs in my back and this makes for a pain free night of sleeping. Best of all, my son can fit in it too.

    http://www.junglehammock.com/store/product.php?productid=77&cat=15&page=1

I also have a Katadyn Hiker Pro water filter , an MSR 2 Liter Dromedary Bag that I can pump fresh water into as well as My camelbak Tranformer backpack that has all my first aid gear and emergency Poncho that can double as a tarp.

For food supplies, I skip the MREs and I keep Mountain House Granola Milk and Blueberries in single serving packs I make with a vacuum sealer.
