My wife was pregnant at the time I did it so getting in and out of the truck was a chore anyway...now she is used to it and doesn't even think twice.

i did this exact same thing! now im buying the camburg 2.5 performance kit and looking to get deaver leaf spring packs. i wanted to spend a grand. now im looking down the barrel of $3000. i guess spending 3 grand is better than going out and getting f**ked by some 4x4 crap operation that will destroy your taco.

885x with 5100s and top plate spacer for full 3", RCD extended 5100s in rear, dakars, flip kit, LR UCAs, tint, shorty antenna, in channel rain guards,BHLM, blacked out emblem, OEM side steps, weathertechs, debadged, rear diff breather
this thread pretty much described my process.........I spent 120 on some used 885s......300 on 5100s......stock springs are shot so im not adding leafs to already crap ones.......so 400ish on dakars or expos.......def gonna need UCAs cuz im going for spacers on the 885s as well. So theres another 400 bucks.

So for about 3" of lift of the entry level sort......I live in the NE so at most I'll be doing some wheeling in some tight forests but no prerunnin in the desert so the 885s and 5100s will suit me perfect. I am still gonna be at 1300 plus for just the lift components......no even considering I prob will pay someone to put it on because I dont have the tools or buddies with the know how to do it.

Once the lift is on I will look like I am on roller skate wheels with the stock 265s I have.......or atleast im afraid of that as I am going for the full 3" or plus to get a slightly more level look ideally. So soon I will need tires too and spacers as I want to run the stock wheels if possible.

TW is def a addiction but damn I love my tacoma........shes worth it.;)

FYI, Here is a picture of a guy with a 3" lift and 265's on stock wheels. He also posted that he was worried that the truck would look funny with the 265's and stock wheels. But it looks good to me. I think his name is inlinejohn.

P.s. sorry for whoring you out inlinejohn

OK, nice thread. So it's easier to lift then beef it up? I put a 1.5" level on the front and got the added leaf in the back from Toyota's defect. Put Body armor front and back bumpers on it. Now it rides like a boat empty and any light load makes me bottom out.

Suggestions to make the boating and bottoming go away? Thanks up front.

how are your alignment numbers? You may have low caster. As for the rear, it sounds like you may have bunk leaf springs.

My aligment is at 0. It's perfect. As far as the leafs go in the back, they do have just a slight bow. close to straight.

Also... With the 1.5" level in the front, is it neccessary to go with the diff drop?

The stock leaf packs TSB or NON are garbage. They will sag and straighten arch after 20k on most. If you are rocking body armor you need stiffer coils up front and springs in back. Might as well upgrade your shocks and help smooth out dampening as well.........while you are doing that you might as well toss the spacer lift and get longer coils and shocks to give you your level look too.

no diff drop needed at 1.5" IMO......do some searching for the front diff drop discussions. Lot of people say it isn't needed at all.....some say you do once you lift over 2.5". I dont know too much about it to comment with much assertiveness.

You could always look into Superbumps or Timbrens. They're basically a taller, softer bump stop but they're also designed to hold weight. Otherwise, I think you're looking into a replacement leaf pack if you're still bottoming out even with an AAL.

I have a real good spring company right down the street from me. I am trying to find the specs on the front coils. They quoted me $1k for the rear leafs, installed; heavy duty.

Wow... that's a complete rip off! You can get Dakars, All Pro or Deavers for way less than half that and Alcan will custom make you a set for about half of that. Installation for a leaf pack only takes a couple hours.
