I guess I'm really trying to figure out if the 8400 is worth 150 bucks more.

I've got the 4400 and it's pretty damn sweet. Bluetooth calls, bluetoothing my iPhone to the deck and I can stream music from iTunes or any of the other apps too. Just saying the 4400 is good enough if you don't wanna drop the extra 150.

What dash kit did you use? And did you buy the adapter for the steering wheel controls?

    8400 has 3 major differences...

1- Mixtrax is a feature to change the BPM of your music and make smart playlists and auto tune/mix your songs. Basic DJ functionality all from the screen. IMO, waste of time and money. Cool concept, but who is really going to be mixing songs and change bpm on the fly while they're driving.

2- Almost double the resolution which gives it a near HD quality image. Great for DVD's or streaming Netflix from an iPhone, but other than that, really not worth the money

3- Detachable face plate. The entire screen detaches which is an amazing feature and almost makes the price difference worth it, but to me its not quite enough to justify the extra cost.

How much did you find the 4400 for and where?? The Dash kit is either a Metra or Scosche kit. One is textured to match ac controls, other is flat. Wire harness is basic, unless you have entune or JBL, then cost goes up significantly.

If your looking to save some money, I have last years version of the 4400 for sale. Only difference is the HD Tuner and Bluetooth are separate modules instead of built in. I am selling it all as a package with Ipod cable, HD, and BT for $420. Not sure how much you found the other one for. I can also include a brand new dash kit for only $20 more (normally $50) and harness (price depends on which one you need). If your at all interested, PM me.

But whichever model you choose, they are all GREAT radios! Important features are the 8 band graphic EQ, and if your run ampifiers then the 4volt preouts make a huge difference! Youll love both of them. Id say 4400 unless you have $150 to waste on nothing really

The 4400 is on crutchfeild for 500 and that includes everything needed to install, and free shipping. Only thing I would need to buy as far as I can tell is the wires to make my steering wheel controls work.

That's a pretty good price. If it includes a dash kit and wire harness, I'd say go for it. I get the 4400 for $380 but that's without dash kit and harness. It would be $410 with parts. But that's only cuz I have a connection to purchase just above cost so only $90 more is a good deal I think.

Yeah I think I might go with the 4400. How's the dash kit that comes from crutchfeild? I read somewhere on here that it didn't fit right. Anyone else use the dash kit from crutchfeild with this radio?

Proforce has documented the feature differences, but do some more research! I was considering the same thing a few weeks ago, started doing some search/research and found out that the 8400 is having some issues that people think are related to the firmware, that Pioneer has/will not acknowledge. It seems the unit has a tendency to freeze/lockup.

Ok so I think I made up my mind. I'm going with the 4400. Just one more question, since the HU has Bluetooth and my stock radio didnt. Is there a way to add the Bluetooth buttons to my steering wheeling so I can awnser calls?

I believe that you can with the PAC Audio interface, not sure about the Metra one though. Of course you'll need to add the buttons and I believe that there is a thread for that somewhere on here.

Its not the module that is the problem, its adding the buttons. I believe you have to purchase a whole new spiral cable to add those buttons. It turns into a very pricey add on. I think that's what I read about that before.

Again, not so sure. If you have the radio control buttons already then I believe that the BT buttons plug into the cable that's already there. I'm to lazy to search for it though.

Forgot that the 8400 also has dual usb ports which is nice so you can use 1 for the ipod cable and use the extra to add a flush mounted usb plug to one of the blanks under the ac controls. Tought that was a nice option, but still not a deal maker for me. 4400 is the winner still

Do both these radios have separate Bluetooth mics? Or is the mic in the HU?
