I wonder if anyone one here owns or has owned a Hilux & can give us an honest comparison of the two?

The Hilux are very popular here in central Mexico. Seems to be white, silver basic company work horses, not tricked out at all. The Tacomas are less in number, more valued, and personalized. A very sweet mitsubishi compact truck... getting more numerous. These seem to be getting the wheels, chrome, red paint etc. I checked the mits out and has a super, very cheap hard plastic dash...big turn off.

like I've posted before, and this report shares the opinion...

overseas, the Tacoma/Hilux is a workhorse...like an F-250 to the rest of the world. while here in the US, many (maybe most) Tacoma's are used much like SUV's.

also, I share the opinion...that Toyota will not make any super significant changes to the North American Tacoma any time soon.

I also think GM is nutz to build the "Thailand sourced Colorado"...it will be a failure in the North American market...just like the Volt is.

Chebby needs to build the Vette...the Silverado...and the Tahoe...scrap the rest, and call it a day. GM...which used to be the leader, is now a joke.

I agree 100% with everything you said here. I would still sell my firstborn (I don't have any kids) for a trayback Hilux though.

I beat my truck harder than our hilux here, and my truck is in no where to close to the hunk of shit this truck is in. It has a broken motor mount the bumper facia fell off the radiator leaks like a civ all the plastic in the engine bay has broken, the list goes on. Ive jumped my truck countless times and havent broken a motor mount, this truck has never gone faster than 40mph and has more shit wrong with it than I can count.
