I just bought an aftermarket grill and i need to paint it to match my Magnetic Gray Metallic 2nd gen Tacoma

For any of you that have bought paint to match your truck, which brand is the best and what color code should I look for?

I cleaned it with rust oleum wax and tar remover, sanded with 340 grit, then cleaned with the wax and tar remover again, followed that with 2 coats of duplicolor adhesion promoter. Let it dry for around twenty minutes and followed that up with 3 coats of the paint(each coat about 10 minutes apart.) After the final coat let it dry for an hour or so and followed it up with 4 coats of duplicolor perfect coat clear.

I used the duplicolor paint and the duplicolor clear coat. Came out amazing. Perfect match.
7 coats of the color matched paint and 5 costs of clear coat. Looks like a factory paint job

Did you remove the grille or just taped around it?

    Thanks.

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
Remove it, you dont wanna drive around with it anyway for at least a day after you clear coat and it will be much easier to paint. Very easy to take off, and if you have a 2012 or a aftermarket grill you can seperate the outer grill surround from the inner grill if you want them different colors. I did mine color match on the outer grill and gloss black on the inner lip.

Just to let you know i sprayed my grill and wasnt very happy with the finish product, my clear coat is a little hazy. I plan on doing it again. Just take your time and do a little research before you go for it.

Isn't everything I need to know in this forum? hehe. Thanks again for the heads up. I'll do some more research. Also, I haven't looked at the grill and how it's attached but is it easy to take off? Any little tricks or stuff I need to watch out for so I don't break the grill?

Very easy to take off, two screws, and two plastic clips up top, just gently pry them off with a flathead. Then theres two clips on the bottom corners, the tabs should pop right out if you pull straight up on the grill. They might break easy if you pull out instead of up
