I am taking in my 2102 Tacoma in tomorrow for its first dealership visit. I have an annoying door rattle (passenger side) and it is driving me crazy. If they fix it I will let everyone know because after searching the site, it seems there is no common problem or fix. Any other 2012's with door rattles? I think mine is in the window assembly.

Could be any number of things. There's a million things in the door.

Does it do it with the window both down and up all the way?

I just bought my 2012 two weeks ago and here a rattle from the drivers side door. It does not matter if the window is up or down. If I apply pressure against it with my arm while driving it goes away. As soon as I take my arm off of it it starts right back.

^In your case it's because the door panel isn't tight enough against the door metal. Easy fix.

...or maybe the wire loom to your power windows/locks bumping against the panel.

The dealer worked on the rattle. They took the door panel off and took a test drive, NO RATTLES. They assumed the rattles was between the door and panel.

They put the door panel back after adding felt and foam to all contact points, hence making a better connection between the panel and door.

They drove a second time and claimed NO RATTLES after the panel was reinstalled. I'm thinking man, they fixed it.

Two miles down the road, the RATTLE is there, no difference. Back to the drawing board.

Mine also has a rattle in the drivers side door that gets to me sometimes. I've just been turning up the radio louder but I would like to get the issue fixed. Mine doesn't matter if the window is up or down or if I put pressure on the panel or not so it's something inside the door for sure. I have 2,400 miles on my truck and it started about a week after I bought it.

Well I have tried to tighten the screws holding it in and that did not work. I might try removing the panel this weekend but that just sucks that I do not have 500 miles on it yet and it rattles. I will let you know what I find out this weekend. I think the source is echoing from somewhere in the panel and the solid metal piece by your ear is acting as amp. As long as I put pressure against the panel while driving the sound goes away. I have even tried wedging something between the panel and the glass but that did not work. Its a cool truck though. With this being my second tacoma I wish Toyota would get their sh*t together. Release the diesel Hilux and give the Americans what they want.

My driver door vibrates when certain bass frequencies play even at moderate to low volume. The noise sounds as if it's coming from near the Tweeter, but it's not. If i lean into the door with my leg the noise is gone.
I also have a noise that sounds as if coming from the driver's side seat belt adjuster in the b-pillar. Both sounds drive me crazy. I'll have the dealer look at when I do the first oil change.

BINGO! I had a rattle in my passenger side door of my '06 for several years. IT DROVE ME NUTS! Finally narrowed it down to the wire loom running to the passenger door lock/window swiches. I simply popped the switch panel out of the arm rest, bent the wire bundle over to one side, and now it no longer rattles!

I have the exact same vibe and I'm thinking it's the tweeter too.

    Yeah.
I have this, too, mine is more of a rattle/buzz with bass frequencies. Very annoying, it becomes the only thing I can hear. I finally narrowed it down -- if I put even light pressure on the window switch panel it disappears.

I can't remember which end of the panel pops up, is it the front or back? I want to pop it out tomorrow and see what I can do.

No other rattles yet, 12.5K miles, a hundred or so on rough mountain passes and forest roads in CO, so I think I have shaken most of them out.

My 2012 has the same Damn thing!!! It's the window switch assembly. I'm about to pop it off and secure things. Annoying.

Lift from the front. The rear has plastic tabs that slide under the armrest housing. (At least this is true on my '06 acess cab.)

I periodically develop a rattle from the passenger door switch. I found that the wiring bundle for the door lock and window switches untucks a bit and rests on a little ledge below (I forget exactly what's below) and that causes the rattle. I simply tuck the wire bundle up a bit and it's good for a few months. I really just need to tape or zip-tie the wires permanently out of the way and be done with it for good!

    I have a 2011 Access Cab...from the first day...a rattle like a quarter loose
in the bottom of my rear driver side door. I only hear it when I shut the door...so I am just living with it...

I thought maybe some disgruntled assembly line worker stuck a electrical box punch out it in there just out of spite...

    my only complaint...
