Ive never heard of that site/company.

I would stick with a known and reliable company.

If you are just wanting a cheap AR, go to walmart and get a bushmaster carbon 15. I think the whole rifle is like $600.

If you want a quality rifle that you wont have to worry about falling apart then check out Bravo co. If you want something in the middle, check out PSA.

I have two PSA rifles and they have been great guns so far.

    +1

i will say i built my ar for about 700 bucks about a year and a half ago

bought a complete lower from a local gun store(kaiser defense)

and a complete upper online from m4store.net(stag arms)

rifle has been perfect except for when i screw around and bumpfire it and get the hammer to ride foreward with the bolt which just means i need to rack the charging handle. heres pics......again...... lol

    when it was complete

It's easy to be the cheapest site when you have no intention of shipping the product.

Much, much, much bad news about that seller on Arfcom and Akfiles.

Thats a bummer..oh well. I think I am going to look elsewhere instead. So I went to Turners outdoors and they have a S&W stripped lower receiver for $139 and then another shop I went to had a JD stripped lower for $149.

Are these comparable lowers? I see JD is made here in San Diego where I'm from.

Not sure who is making S&W's lower, but I have two lowers made on JD's equipment... an older Kaiser and a JD. Both are excellent lowers.

Call JD... they do have the proper FFL to sell OTC, might be able to beat Turners.
I get my lowers through Riflegear in Fountain Valley. Last one was around $130 with tax and DROS (sales price was $99), but it would cost you more than $40 to make the two trips to FV, and it would cost you more than $60 to have it transferred through a local FFL.

if you're looking for a quality mfr, try CMMG... they also have a nice teflon anodized finish that wipes down much easier than a lot of the other makes out there w/ matte finishes...

another thing to consider, for you, is that you get something that is kaifornia legal... i don't think you can have a traditional mag release button...

I decided I am trying to not FFL. A smaller shop I went to that had the JD said they dont do it anymore because of tax reasons and Turners said around 180 to FFL..that is absurd. I think I may end up going with the JD..and correct california requires a tool to release the mag

    Gotta stick with local sources.
I'm not aware of any CMMG dealers that handle lowers in SoCal, and California requires all firearms (including stripped lower receivers) to be transferred in through an FFL.

$30 for DROS, sales tax, and the FFL will charge anywhere from $50 to $125 for the transfer fee makes is uneconomical to order online or even have a friend ship one to you.
    Yes and no.
I have three... my AR22 (CMMG dedicated .22lr upper) is legal in traditional configuration.
I also have a 20" with a fixed stock, Monsterman grip, and a compensator instead of a flash hider.
It too is legal with a standard mag release.

My 14.5 has a flash hider, pistol grip, and telescoping buttstock. It requires a bullet button and can not be used legally with magazines greater than 10 rounds.

Ya... There is a shop in Brea that I like, and was a member of their range last year, OC Indoor.
They were reasonable for stripped lowers... their FFL transfer fee was the lessor of 15% of the cost or $55, so the most you'd pay would be $55+$30+tax... so a $55 Nodak Spud would come out to around $100, rather than the $145 that it would be at a shop that charged $150 it would be from a shop that charged a flat $60 for the transfer.

Not Kaiser... and I don't believe JD still does (they do still do some OEMs).

The Kaiser partnership broke up and one partner formed JD using the machines and other assets (including remaining inventory).
The other partner moved to Arizona and started up a new Kaiser a couple of years ago. The new Kaiser equipment is sweet, but not cheap. They seem to be more focused on the 7.62 NATO pattern.
