i removed the fender tube...

so i removed the fender tube(see pic) and i was wondering if u guys think this will mess up my engine. i dont wanna put it back since it has a light swoosh sound now and my exhaust sounds kick ass! but i dont want to damage my engine. im getting a drop in filter so maybe that will make a louder swoosh but we'll see.

so yer looking for more swoosh sound are ya? I hear APC might have something to your liking.


Maybe you could just put a snorkel straight on your throttle body?

 

the air your truck is sucking in is still getting filtrated the only problem is waht luk said your sucking up much hotter air which cuts down on hp

 

you are going to be sucking in the HOT air from under
the hood
You need cold air

oh ya forgot to mention that..im aware of the hot air problem but will it be a drastic drop in hp or even mpg? i think im gunna run if for a month and record my mpgs...hp wise it takes off the same so i dont know.
hey dont they actually make a warm air intake?

 

buy a K&N intake you get that woosh sound and you get better performance, im getting 1.5 more mpg than w/o it so i save 2$ at every fillup pays for itself in alittle over 100 fillups

just do it right and get a cai

 

i really dont think so b/c cold air is denser increasing the air in the intake creating better combustion

 

Someone just needs to come up with a replacement tube for that thing. I think you could get a better sound, maintain performance, if not a tad more, by replacing that ribbed tube with something smoother.

 

in that case u could just get a couple autozone tubes and make it straighter andsmooth

 

Think they'd have them in the right angles? (Contemplating going to VatoZone now.

 

from what i see on the intake two elbows and a straight pipe will get it done and vatozone should have what u want i used to work there and they have a pretty large selection of piping

u could make a decent cold air intake with a dropin and remove the secondary with a larger intake pipe thats straighter, in theory it should work

 

yeah, I already have a K&N drop in, so I think it may work as well. I'll probably port it into the stock hole in the fender, I'd have to create a water trap if I ported it out to the front.

 

if you are gonna do all that then just make one that like the URD Cai.
