I wanted to make my first post something worthwhile. Hopefully you will all like it.

I've a '09 Tacoma DC in Super White and I really hate the huge mast antenna. To fix the problem I picked up a genuine S2000 antenna from eBay, about $20. The threaded post was too short on the S2000 antenna. I cut off the existing S2000 post, drilled, then tapped for m5x0.8mm, screwed in a longer piece of m5x0.8 with loctite, and installed. Thus far I have not noticed any degradation in FM reception.

    Here are the results, enjoy:

It's pretty straight forward. Cut the existing post off, then drill and tap for m5x0.8mm. Nothing to it.

BTW, Tigerfan, I'm in Aiken, SC. Are you in Cola?

Very tasteful mod. How's the reception? Any reduction in the signal?

the ones i seen come as an amplified unit or just the antenna mast. i bought the amplified one for my integra and there was a slight drop in reception probably from height difference, but all in all its really not that bad.

I would agree with that, danteisme. If I could grade the reception on a 100% scale vs stock. I would say that the reception with the stubby antenna is 90%.

hey I love the stubby, do they make it so that you don't have to drill and tap???

This is the way to go. I tried to do one of the shorter screw on type and it just keeps falling off. Replacing the whole cable and antenna is a much better idea.. Looks great, and welcome.

Unfortunately no. This is an OEM Honda part specific to the S200 and I am not aware of any variants, particularly with a longer stud.

i find myself listening to less and less terestial radio... in fact with the sirius on board and these new head units with USB/IPOD I find myself just using the USB.

Only time I find myself using over the air is for traffic and weather.
