My Truck as of now...

My truck as of now, my cb and pa are installed and I love em, my mom keeps bitchin at me about taking it out even after i asked her and told her what I'm putting in my truck. Cost me 120 to install both but they did a great job.

Today i pulled into the garage to wax my truck, got out to see how close i was to the shelf, i bent down then when i stood straight i hit the trailer mount for our thule (we carry alotta stuff when we travel..) so i hit my head with it, it starts shaking, i grab it and forgot it was tipsy and i grabed to stop it from shaking, doing that tipped the damn thing on to my the hood of my truck. that thing weights 90 to a 100+ pounds, all that went on my truck. Going back to the body shop, im paying for this, im getting a job this summer to pay for it. Here are pics

Cool. We usually bring a set of walky talkies. Just never wanted to install the cb for as little as I would actually use it. Did toy with the idea of running all the wires and unhooking it when I don't need it.

Cb's are good to just have, even if your on the highway alot, truckers have them and you can findout alot of useful information from traffic backups, fast alternate routes, and of course where jonny law is posted up stopping people . They also work where cell phones cant so it can kinda be a safetly resource as well.

And of course they are fun to have on trails or if you have alot of buddies that have they can be quite entertaining too.

 

I drive 200 miles a day on the interstate and wouldn't mind having one but don't want the huge antenna.

 

You can get a two foot antenna and they come even smaller, you could also get a magnetic base and just put it on the roof when you need and take it off when you dont.

 

Thanks luk, yeah they are fun, Im gonna have to hold off on the antenna for a while cause this f#%king thing falling on my hood has completely stoped me from doing anything...

I have a magnetic base antenna and on my last trip out to AZ, something black bounced off my hood, windshield and then knocked the antenna off the roof. Don't have a clue what it was, but thankfully no damage.

I had a magnetic antenna on the roof but after driving on the highway 2 for 3 days, it started leaving marks on the roof, it had to go...

I am soo mad at myself right now! me too, i love that cb radio

 

Ok you hit the shelf and it got unbalanced and it decided to hit YOUR freshly done truck...... Im trying to get the story straight

 

No, I was close to hitting the shelf with my truck but didnt, i preceded to get out and see how much closer i can get... i bent down to see cause it was kinda dark, plus i had to adjust something on one of the lower shelves that was sticking out and was gonna hit my truck. Anyway, so as i bent back up my head nailed the metal piece that goes into the trailer hitch, doing that caused it to rock and move so i grabed it to stop its rockin, doing that caused it to tip. So i let go and rubbed my head which hurt like a bitch and while doing that the damn thing just tipped off the top shelf and nailed my hood and bounced and nailed it again. That things about 110+ pounds and i couldnt stop it that fast and so unexpectedly.

So i went back to the bodyshop, they were surprised to see me again lol. Got a quote...1265 with labor for fixing the hood. They cant fix the hood, the understructure of the hood is all broken off and they are not allowed to fix that stuff. So i have to get a new hood but keep the original hood scoop front, washer fluid nozzles and hose saving me some money. I will pay for this, but for now, im gonna paint over it with touch up paint to prevent it from rusting then replace the hood when the times right
