    Here's my latest project rifle:

It is a 1942 Soviet Izhevsk Mosin Nagant M91/30 sniper rifle. This one was an ex-sniper (the Russians de-snipered many of them after WWII figuring they had many more than needed for future use and placed them in storage as standard infantry rifles).

This is my 3rd sniper - and first restoration. It sports an original 1942 PU scope which is 3.5X fixed focus). I had this one worked on to use in competition - barrel was floated and polished, bolt and feed ramp polished and trigger smoothed out to a 4.5 to 5lb pull.

I'm scheduled to shoot in a vintage sniper rifle competition next weekend so we'll see how she does.

The Soviets put a wrap of oil soaked canvas around the barrel at the front swivel to dampen the harmonics of the barrel touching the wood. We're using a thin piece of oil soaked suede in place of the canvas. So, it's not a traditional float in that sense.

Speaking of shotguns and auto loaders what do ya'll think between using a over/under for duck hunting vs an auto loader? I have both and use the over/under for mostly trap but sometimes think it might be better for ducks because it has two chokes( full on top). And by the time I get off two shots with my auto the birds are to far away to get a third off.

You have to put a limiter in a auto loader for duck hunting anyways, so you're better with the o/u because of the chokes IMHO. (You're allowed 2 rounds in the magazine, and one in the chamber with a autoloader or pump)

You're also limited to 25 rounds, so having that 3rd shot in there encourages you to take silly shots, wasting ammo.

I use my trap gun to duck hunt :) I have a Trulock Skeet 2 in the bottom barrel, and a Improved Mod. in the top.

What I've been doing is using the o/u for ducks and the auto for geese. The geese loads kick a bit more but for duck loads I've never had a problem with follow up shots with my o/u, actually I'm probably quicker with it then the auto.
I had to ask just to see what people are doing.

all depends on where you hunt/live.

we can carry around as many shells as we want. we are only limited on how many can be loaded into the gun.
