I have a '99 Tacoma and the right brake light comes on when I turn the lights on, however, when I apply the brake it does not intensify anymore. the left one works just fine. Any clues? I have kind of ruled out the fuse since the light does come on and figured it may not come on at all if the fuse is shot. Could it be the relay? Or maybe a ground at the housing itself not being attached (to the chassis, or somewhere?)?

    Thanks!!!!!!

Do you own a test light? Or a multi-meter?

IF you are absolutely sure that bulb is good (I'd swap them side to side), then it sounds like a wiring problem near the back of the truck. Aftermarket wiring in that area? Trailer plug? Problems like this are why everyone should have a $10 test light in their toolbox.

I do have trailer hitch wiring. However, last night I pulled the bulb out once againg and confirmed that it is good. I put it back in and it worked in normal and braking mode. However I drove it today and its out again. maybe something between trailer wiring and it self? can I unhook something or is it hard wired. It seems to be when I look underneath.

    Thanks!
