Anyone else getting 21-24mpg with their 4.0? Just got another 24mpg half tank, went 225 miles and it took 9.32 gallons of gazz. Truck is an 06 4x4 with 90K on it, very well maintained, and stock except for my leer shell. I only use Non Ethanol gazz.

    Toyota!

The best I've seen in the few weeks I've had mine has been 21, that was with cruise set on the interstate for a 300 mile trip. I'm not complaining though, my 01 2.7 manual only averaged 18 or 19.

Don't hear this very often with the V6. Glad someone's enjoying their truck!

I've been staying right around 21-22 avg. lately. Perfectly happy with that. It's a truck after all.

I don't know if it made any difference in MPG but I got a deal on some techron fuel system cleaner, buy one get on free, and that was in my tank when I got 24mpg. Averagely I get around 22-23, this is the 3rd 24mpg I have recorded. Stoked.

I don't get it. What does that have to do with wanting the vehicle to be fuel efficient?

Usually 18 ish highway for me. I did manage 20.9 on a pure highway trip a couple weeks ago. Not too bad for a 3" lift and 265/75/16 Duratracs (with 20k miles on them)

I use Lucas gas treatment (3oz/10gal), get it in the gal. size @ Auto Zone. Went from 18mpg to 20.5. Just have 5000 miles on it tho...you are correct, I knew it was a brick when I bought it

I'm getting a whopping 17.1! Of course i haven't turned my A/C off more than 20 minutes since I got the truck 5 weeks ago, that doesn't help. Might be the tires too. Last tank I got 17.5 and half of that was all highway.

Just got back from a 3000 km road trip. Went from home to Seattle and back. I could tell when I filled up with ethanol blended fuel or straight gas. Ethanol blend would net me 17-18 highway, and straight gas would get me 21-22. Idaho had straight gas, and I think British Columbia, but Washington State was all blended gas. Not bad though, overall. I estimated $600 in fuel spending this trip, and got away with a little over $400. I'm happy.

whip..i didnt find the OP bitching about bad MPG..just happy when he got good MPG. there are plenty of bitch threads..i've seen them.

believe me i get it...my truck with my wife at the helm is a completely different animal. 16-18 mpg..it is amazing.

when my wife gets the econo box of her dreams..i have pledged to buy a bigger guzzler with the carbon credits her car generates..i dont worry to much about mpg.

The thing that some people don't seem to be understanding is that a truck can get good and bad gas mileage.....for a truck.

If your Taco was getting 10mpg and I said, "Don't bitch about mileage...it is a truck," I would not have a good point.

Trucks get bad mileage compared to smaller, lighter, vehicles. Within that context there is plenty of room to bitch or be pleased.

You can have a free lunch. My buddy averages around 18mpg on his F350 7.3 Diesel and runs free waste vegetable oil.

Stick on hood scoop from Autozone.

Which is why I also have a Kia Forte. 39MPG highway. :)

My best tank (in my 02 3.4L 4x4 4Runner with 142,000 miles) was with 92 octane, non ethanol gas in Montana. I got almost 22MPG, and that's with a plate bumper, skid plates and 33" mud tires. :D
