So I got my BeefedTaco CB drop in today, and its a huge improvement :woot:

    BUT,

I was not able to get the top bolt in for the bracket... I got the two on each side in fine, and tightened them up to about as tight as they could be, but the hole for the top of the bracket just BARELY misaligned with the hole behind it and I couldn't get the bolt through. I also am not sure how i'd get a wrench on the top to hold the nut while I tightened the bolt? anyways, my question is, is it fine without that top bolt? ive only driven maybe a mile so far, but don't want to keep driving on it if the friggin thing is going to blow apart on the highway....

    thanks!

That bolt was a PITA for me. I ran without it and didn't notice anything but after I installed it, there was quite a difference. I installed the center bolt first with locktite and torqued to around 85 Ft Lbs, then the bottom bolts the same, locktite & around 100 ft lbs.

hmm... I don't know if any torque is put on the bracket itself or if it is just holding the carrier bearing. I will have to figure it out I guess. it's going to take all day to get that fucking bolt in!!

if anyone has some advice on how to do it that would be great. im working midnights all weekend, but will give it another crack on Monday..

Milk crate and jack stand to hold up the CB, put the middle bolt in first

Ok it wasn't welded, now I remember. I swapped to a 1 piece so it won't look the same but I laid a wrench long ways to hold the nut / bolt.

oh well that makes it is. mine is not lol. the two on each side of the cb that were easy to get in were welded, but there is not a nut on the top of my cb when its stock, so there is just a hole above it and I have the nut/bolt to go on.

Yeah let the wrench do the work, works well with a torque wrench on the bottom also, it will hurt your hand after a while

Keep us updated on your results once you get the center bolt in.

What kind of vibes were you having before the Beefed? I have a little takeoff and massive 20mph vibes that need to be dealt with ASAP.

    Thanks

I had exactly the same vibes, used an OME cb drop, nothing, beefed taco drop, still nothing. What helped was using (2) 1/2" shims & some loc tite and torquing to 100 lbs, I completely got rid of my vibes with the 1 piece shaft.

my takeoff and 20-30mph vibes werepretty noticable. i havent driven enough to see if its completely gone, but it seems to be from the less than 1 mile i have driven thus far. ill keep this thread updated as to how it does, i may not get that top bolt in, as im not spending my entire day working on that, i dont know that it really is needed. there is no pressure being put on that bracket, it is , from what i can see, just suspending the carrier bearing. i could be wrong, maybe someone will chime in on that but i would think that if that top bolt were THAT important, the truck would have had one from the factory. just my 0.02.

Large, you had vibes with a one piece? When I had my '07 a couple years ago I did a one piece and had zero vibes, this time around I was hoping to not have to go that route.
