I have a set of FJ rims waitin to go on my truck and i am deciding how to do it. I will tell you now I don't really factor others peoples opinions in on my truck, but its still nice to get some feed back!

Ya I think I am going for the billy 5100s when i am a working man again. I know its my call and normally i hate when people ask for opinions on their own trucks, but I like each one so I wanted some outside feedback!

The option for my favorite isn't up. Black with a machined lip. Kinda like just painting the spokes while leaving the outer rim the OEM finish.

I see...that would have to be my choice on the poll, then. BUT, before you paint the lip white I suggest taking a step back and looking at the rims with a machined lip. I think you may like it.

Ok if i do the accent which i am leaning towards, do you see any issues with this procedure:

I am going to paint the edges white, then cut a piece of cardboard in a giant "O" to tape to the white part, then paint the rest black

will do! Thanks for the suggestion. My only issue with that is would it look out of place for that to be the only bit of metallic on my truck? One way to find out: EVIL MONKEY I NEED YOU

and i might see if i can leave the lugnuts bare or white, but i assume putting the wheels back would wreck the paint

Painter's Tape is your friend. If you do decide to do the white lip, you should paint lighter colors before darker colors. So what you should do in that case is, paint all the areas you want to be white. There's no need to cover any areas that will be black. Then, mask off the areas that you want to stay white with Painter's Tape. It's blue masking tape, and will not remove any paint beneath it or leave a residue. Then, spray your black paint. Then (depending on the look you're going for) spray a few coats of clearcoat to protect the paint(s). Done!

I know Gorilla makes black lugnuts, and I think jhodge83 has some. PM him for where to get them.

Cardboard will leave an overspray mark. Tape is waaayy better. You just have to be patient and take your time. Bending and shaping is the key. Trust me, masking tape will be infinitely better than any cardboard circle.
