So before I had an 02 Tacoma, and even when I didnt turn the lights on at night, or if I forgot, it still had running lights that came on and were always constantly on. So even if I forgot to turn them on at night, Police or Sheriff would not see me driving with no lights.

Well I now have a new Tacoma, an 07 and well, these lights dont work the same. I live in Houston, in the city, its bright, I have great night vision. Its easy for me to forget that I don't have my lights turned on. I went 8 years without having to worry about this s***. Now I have a new truck and Ive been pulled over twice in the past 3 weeks for driving at night without lights on simply because (out of habit) i forgot to turn my lights on at night.

Is there any fix for this? Please help! I cannot keep shelling out money for these tickets!

Get in the habit of turning your lights on.

How about just leaving the lights on? They shut of when you turn off the truck and exit via drivers side.

You can leave them on, when you turn off the truck & open the door they turn off automatically, when you turn the truck on they turn on with it.

Even if you can see good from the street lights or what ever, do you not look at your dash and it not remind you?

Also do they not sell/make aftermarket automatic light controls? Just a thought.

Get your fogs wired up to run all the time while the trucks on, I don't know if they would pull you over then or not

The backlighting in the gauges comes on with the ignition, only the radio and HVAC backlighting comes on with the markers / head lights. It is for this reason that I am not a fan of this, dark gauges is an instant reminder to turn the headlights on.

excuse me if i may sound like im stepping out of my boundaries here talking to a more seasoned member of the forums....but fuck you.

Im being strait as an arrow here, I drove an 02 Tacoma for well, almost 9 years before I got rid of it and got this one, It had running lights that turned on every time the truck turned on that were great! They were just as bright as my headlights, my old Taco actually had a MASS of lights on the thing to find my way back to the trails that I never should have left :D Lights are not a foreign object to me.

Im just....like.....twice in 3 weeks since Ive had the truck.....cmon somethings gotta give.

I have a roller knob to the left of my steering wheel that controls the light to the gauges, and well, its always fully lit up, so i really dont notice a difference when i roll my light switch nob forward to turn my lights on (which would normally light up my gauges) since my gauges are always lit.

I would appreciate it if before you just started throwing barbs at the new guy just to elevate your esteem you would instead thing about how you might contribute to the forum and maybe his thread. But thats not why your here are you?

Don't give it the time of day. I caught myself a couple times with the same issue when I got my 2nd gen, especially in well lit areas, so can relate. Leaving the headlight switch on at all times might just be your solution, since they auto off so long as you turn the key off before you open the drivers door.

I'll have to remember to pay more attention but I thought the dash lights come on with the parking/headlights on mine. But mine has the daytime running lights. (parking lights)
