...LOL! Sure it may be a RIGHT to drive your own vehicle on the highways, but as it was said already, you need to have a state issued license to be able to drive legally. I would like to see you try to explain to an officer how you have a god given RIGHT to be on the highway without a license...HAHA

Turn on your friggin lights man. It's really not that hard.

Driving home from work tonight I flashed someone with their lights off. They flashed me back then continued to drive with their lights turned off.

This kind of shit pisses me off. Daytime running lights improve visibility of the vehicle's front end during daylight hours. They don't do anything to provide a means of seeing the rear end of the vehicle in darkness. That's what the tail lights are for.

And most of the time, the DRL, even if they use the low beams, are at a reduced brightness. So, if you're driving at night in a vehicle with DRL, and you don't turn on the headlights, not only are you not visible from the rear, you also can't see as well as you are driving the vehicle. So you're more likely to get rearended under certain lighting conditions, and more likely to hit a kid playing in the street that you would have seen sooner with the headlights on!

And by the way, when it's raining, and you don't turn your lights on because you don't feel like it, or because you have DRL, I CAN'T SEE YOU FROM BEHIND either!

If someone doesn't get this, I will never be able to explain it to them.

It's not about avoiding a ticket, it's about avoiding an accident, and preserving people's safety! NOT just about you!

OP: Either turn the light switch on and leave it there, and let the truck turn them off automatically OR buy an aftermarket kit that will use a light sensor to turn them on and off automatically. Any other solution requires you to remember to flip a switch on and off. It sounds like that's not working out so far.

This is an excellent idea! There is plenty of help here to figure out how to wire it up!

OP, ever though about adding a light sensor to the headlight circuit? Might cost a little but a heck of a lot cheaper than another ticket.

Sell your Taco and get a Chevy soccer mom crossover like the Traverse. They come with automatic headlights, power tailgate and other lazy features.
