Just got 353 miles on my last tank, used 18.5 gallons. I am noticing that the more miles I get on my truck the better MPG it gets. Have only had truck since June, and am sitting at 5200 miles on odometer.

I only put premium gas in the outboard. Ethanol eats outboard carbs for breakfast. Rebuilt two carbs this winter. I did start buying premium for my truck but I really didn't see a measurable increase in mpgs although the truck seems to be smoother while towing.

Trust me, I have done it. This is not biodiesel. This is straight vegetable oil (look into SVO, WVO, greasecar, frybrid, etc.) with no processing other than being filtered. He even has one place that pays him to pick it up.

With my new Cat-back, my mpg's are certain to shoot to near prius levels.

The new throttle response is amazing too

Expect smoother shifts, lower rpm, and cooler engine temperature too.

It took a bit of work on the truck to make it capable, but I can tolerate getting 22+ reliably in a V6 4x4. It's not the 40+ I was pulling out of the Fit but it doesn't break the bank either.

Gas savings with the Honda almost got eaten up with the combination of a) days I missed work when it snowed and b) the days I tried to get to work and shouldn't have, causing immediate slide-to-stuckness syndrome.

Just filled up yesterday for 4.09 a gallon. A few weeks ago it was 3.80ish. This is for 91 non ethanol.

Wrong, we have been conditioned to believe we can only get so much efficiency out of "heavy bricks". A buddy of mine had a mid 2000's (06 or 08) Ford F-150 that was over 1,000 pounds heavier than my 02 GMC Yukon ( roughly 6,500 lbs ) and it was maintaining 18-20mpg. My 2010 4x4 Taco weighs around a ton less than my Yukon and I get less mileage. Granted, theres a power to weight ratio to consider there, but this emissions control is making efficiency plummet. They're pushing these electrics and hybrids like crazy...and they're worthless. If we took advantage of the technology to make vehicles to run @ 100 mpg, it would solve all the problems at hand. But big business stuffs the pockets of big brother which swings the gavel for big daddy...who sets the tone for the rest of the western world

Also the GMC Yukon is geared ridiculously high to help it get better mpg. If our trucks were geared 2.81/3.08 we'd be getting 25+ mpg

I've been getting 19-20mpg for the last six fill ups. Just passed 3700mi on the odometer.

I'm pretty impressed. My '08 Tacoma tended to sit around the 16-17mpg range.

I'm always in a hurry as well. Forget to use toilet paper.
    It is the manufacturer's fault.

I don't see anything wrong with wanting/expecting to get a little better mpgs out of our trucks. I mean they are smaller than a full size yet I often hear how Chevy guys get better mpgs out of their Silverado's. It just seems that we could or should get a little more than them.

I'm not bitching about mine, just wished it did get a little more. I know it's a truck and it doesn't break me to drive it, just wish it did better. Of course I want to level/lift it and make it worse.

Psh. Forget the prius. Spend $25k to save $150/month in fuel?

    this is better.

depending on road conditions, yes. Now that my commute is 6 miles roundtrip on city streets, I'm getting about 18. driving out here from CA I was getting an easy 22-24 average on the highway.

Wow, i never got in the 20's with my truck. Best i ever got was 18's.
Hence the reason i sold it for a V8, and it actually gets in the 20's no problem.
I figured since i was paying V8 fuel prices, i may as well be driving a V8. :D

I'd buy a Civic before I bought a Prius. nothing against the Prius...but I like the Civic's styling better...and we had one for M-I-L (kinda wish I kept it), it was a creame-puff.

plus, we are huge Honda fans...wife is on 3rd Accord...and the newest Civic is really a nicely equipped and good looking car, especially in 2-door!
