    Max's out at 18 psi. I did some data logging last week with my Cobb Accesport to confirm what the tuner did.

    I am also running a 3 core Mishimoto intercooler. My understanding is that most stock/standard intercoolers run 2 core elements for cooing. So if your looking for better cooling check the cores in the unit no matter the brand. It's a shame they don't give a number to how much air they process and the cooling effect they produce.

    If I had a lift, it would take probably about two hours. Takes about four right now. No lift, and no air tools. If it were an N/A engine, it would take less, since there wouldn't be half of the extra stuff in the engine bay.

    As for "was it worth it?" I can really only express it in this manner. For all that I have learned and what that has enabled me to help others do similar things performance wise;the stories they get to tell me; or we experience together because of such mods, has made it worth it. The reward might not be my own, but the return, from my hand in their accomplishments is very rewarding.

    Aside from that, my time will come. When it does, it will be very exciting. For all of the people that have been involved with this build. Through headache and adrenaline rush.


    Very good point to look at. Complementing your last sentence, I thout the same thing when i was last on Mishimoto's website, looking at their intercoolers. All of them, regardless of size, all boast the same flow specs. That is very odd. All of the other cores from various manufacturers, all have differing CFM per size, as well as HP capacity. Needless to say, that just doesn't jive with me. Coupled with some fairly lengthy pulls, and watching the IAT's continually rise, speaks enough to me that it is time to change.

    I just can't wait to see what 18psi does on this built block with the new 6466. :D

    The energy drinks you gave me, honestly man I was thinking they weren't going to be good, but after I had the chance to indulge in the non-sugar free one at a chilled 34 degrees I am now wanting more lol. Haven't had the sugar free one yet, but I'm sure I won't be let down, I'm going to hit you up for a few next time we meet.

    It is very hard to truly express the feelling you receive from helping someone succeed without all of the depressing moments that yourself have had to forge through. Giving them a strong foundation to build from while being able to avoid the costly mistakes. It has created some strong friendships. Those that will last a lifetime.

    Upon a moment of reflection, none of that would have probably happened without forums. Where I started at XRU, and now here on TW. That is what these forums do. Become a community, and a tool to share a wealth of knowledge. Like I said in my first post, this build thread is to show all of the rights and wrongs, so that any of those who are ever interested in doing something even slightly similar, can gain the knowledge here. I hope this thread helps even a little. Then it is worth it.

    Getting back to the Time Line of things, there was a large meet coming up in the middle of OCT. 2011. I had to get the dents in my wheels fixed, as well as add in a traction bar to help with the axle wrap that I had.

    If I went over a bump in the road while under a medium throttle, it would make for some terrible axle wrap. The solution was a set of Calvert Racing CalTrac bars.

    These are actually for the Xrunner, so it came with their lower axle mounting plate. Moddified by Calvert Racing with tabs for a heim joint. They had to be slightly modified where the leaf pin is. Little dremel work made that easy enough.

    Being that they are at the farthest ends of the axle is why I chose them versus the Bud Built brand. Which attaches to the 3rd member. More leverage this way.

    There was a large steel plate over a hole in the road, due to construction. Traffic was tight, and the plate was curved up, at the ends. FML. Couldn't even avoid it....

    So, Grumpy referred me to a place here in town called SABS. They did an awesome job fixing them up, as well as poweder coating them in Matte black. By early Oct, I finally had them all finished.

    They charged $500 a pair to fix the dents, and powder coat them. Did a pair at a time, and took them about a week for each set. But I was very happy with the outcome, and still am.

    TEXFEST Rolled around on Oct.14 2011. Had a good turn out, for the 3rd year's event. Mini mod day at my house.

    Gadget from URD went to PowerFab and dyno tuned an XR with his URD MKIII kit. Made 450whp! ^_^ The SWB on the left, next to Toon's Turbo PreRunner. ;)

    Went to the Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, on Friday. My truck started showing signs of a bad problem, but others did pretty dang good. Sdxrunner619, in his drift spec XR did a 13.37 @ 105. 8 psi on TRD S/C.

    Needless to say. The driver Kevin, has come a Loooooooooong way in skill, from that day. More modification to his handling, and a much harder course has made him capable of toping a Pro at his local course. Cannot wait to see him this time around. Hopefully he will be caged, and can compete against the Lonestar Drift series Pros here.

    Prior to the TexFest, I also installed this fuel pump.

    Due to the Walbro 255 starting to show signs of stress at high rpm and higher fuel pressure. So the upgrade for that is here, and needs to be installed. This is the Aeromotive Stealth 340 LPH.

    The Saturday of the TexFest event, cylinder number 4 gave out, where the JB weld was. Blew coolant all over the engine bay from the overflow tank.

    I guess it just didn't like 14 psi. ;)

    This is where the JB weld blew out of, if anyone needs a refresher.

    Got on the phone that next Monday, and ordered a used 1GR for $1750.
    That way I could ship this one out to have it sleeved by www.DartonSleeves.com

    When it came in, I took off the valve covers, to get an idea of how the engine looked.
    This is how the cams looked.....UGH. Covered in burnt oil

    You will also notice the pick-ups are different between the older 1GR (pre-'05), to current. I ended up having to swap those out a little later on.

    Had I not been in such a rush to get that engine in, I would have pulled all of the covers off and cleaned it up. It really needed it. That poor judgement call, ended up bitting me in the ass later down the road.
