M8000

My truck is around 5000 lbs.. (rounding up) I know its reccomended to have a winch capable of twice your vehicle weight. However the M8000 is a proven winch and its relatively cheap.

Do you think I could get away with this winch with my truck? or should i go 9.5

Nobody would have ANY clue about that here...

I would say go ahead and go with the 9.5. Better safe than sorry, and with a winch, safety and reliability would be the number one deciding factors, and as you know, its better safe than sorry.

 

Vehicle weight multiplied by 1.5. In your case 7500lbs approx. But this does not take into consideration slope angle and other factors involved in getting unstuck. My old truck had a Warn 8000 and I carried extra lines, snatch blocks and a host of rigging equipment on board.

Just be safe and get the larger one.

 

The M8000 will be perfect for your truck..
I had an M8000 on my 2000 Ford F150 and it pulled it like nothing.
These are powerhouse winches.. Beleive me, unless your regularly pulling your truck up a tree, you wont need bigger than the M8000..
