sweet vid, was that you that fell at the end? haha it looked painful

i think by ballin on a budget they are talking about the bike. its supposed to be specialized "budget" friendly DH bike, if there is even a budget friendly DH bike you can buy new haha

dope dude!!! Killin it as always

The flagship DH bike for Specialized is the Demo 8, and now, the carbon Demo 8.

Jordan the big baller Specialized team rider now rides(well, SHREDS lol) the frame under the Demo, the Status which is pretty much half the price... "on a budget" part.

    Pieced it together..

    Sunn Seasons S1 Frame
    Fox Float 32 fork
    Deelux rims/ shimano hubs
    FSA bars
    FSA crank
Avid Elixir CR brakes.. F/203mm, R/160mm
    Sram x7,x9 derailuers
    Maxxis tires
    RaceFace stem and seatpost
    SDG seat
    ODI grips

That pretty much sums up the parts list. Its a 19" frame, next bike will be a 21" but I like this setup thus far

price range? thats really what it depends on, you could probably start finding 2012 bikes at discount because of the 2013s starting to roll out but it really does come down to price.

Used is always a good option but it still might be tough to find a good bike for cheap.

Agreed! And I gotta say, building a bike ground up is one of the Funnest projects I've done.

I built a bike for my daughter back in Nov and it started skipping. Rear hub was relatively new as was chain/cassette. Tried a lotta adjustments to no avail so as last ditch switched out OLD xtr rear mech and threw on a 2011 XT I stole off eBay and viola: cured. I just can't rationalize mechanically why that would cause the afore mentioned symptom.

I've had those gremlins too. PAIN! Was it skipping only under pedal tension?

Maybe the RD spring tension on the '11 XT was stiffer?

I wasn't a fan of SRAM drivetrain, until they released their Type 2 X0 RD's. Man the spring tension on those is STIFF. Couldn't drop a chain if I tried. I have a '12 XO Type 2 RD on my Butcher that I absolutely thrash on and it's never skipped a beat.

Maybe not in your case, but in many other cases with my friends' bikes, I find the lube they are using is making the drivetrain skip----mainly the oil-based lubes. They attract more dirt causing more deterioration to the drivetrain than actual lubrication. I am a HUGE fan of White Lightning Clean Ride lube. Waxed based, and keeps all my chainrings, chains, & cassetes clean while shedding all the dirt.

Alright guys i need some help. I'm thinking about selling my old hardtail since i don't really use it anymore. I have it posted on craigslist for $400. I bought it for about $600 in early 2011. here are specs and a pic on the trek website.

    http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/2011/archive/wahoo

Do you think $400 is a fair price? I think the lowest I would be willing to go is maybe $300 it depends. Its got x4/altus drivetrain 3x8, hydraulic brakes etc. It may need a new chain soon, maybe new brake pads, im not sure. other than that its in pretty good shape.

Everyone's opinions would be much appreciated!
