Airing them down voids the warranty. Though I've seen many that air them down and have never had any problems. I'm at a little over 10k on mine and they still look brand new.

I have the 315/70/17 Guard Dogs w/o Kedge Grip.

Personally, I'd never use retreads on a passenger vehicle. I managed (on weekends) an outlet for a for a trucking company for a number of years and even we stopped using retreads due to the hassles. Never got our money back out of retreads. In fact, costs often went up since we were constantly having to do tire repairs or replacements on the road (instead of at our shops).

If you're really scrapped for bucks, retreads on a large truck are occasionally okay for short periods, but that should include plans to replace the tires with new as soon as possible. But, on passenger vehicles, that practice is probably too costly to be truly feasible - not to mention to hassles of potentially repairing or replacing tires on the road.

However, if you're determined to use retreads anyway, do keep a few things in mind. If you're hauling or towing, make sure the retreads are truly rated for the loads (the original numbers on the sides of the tires are no longer valid once retreaded). Finally, make sure retreads are okay with your insurance company.

Not beyond the first page. Still haven't. This thread was 13 pages long at the time. Doesn't matter anyway since I'm just adding my own experience to whatever mix. Wouldn't have changed regardless of what others said, did, or whatever.

I'm very close to buying the some Wardens. I have stock suspension height and after reading a few pages of the thread it seems that some of these tires are bigger than their size suggests. Would it still be safe to run 265/75/16's at stock height? Does anyone here have that setup? Thanks all!

Going on 30k miles on treadwright retreads. No issues so far. 1 set of guard dogs that last 20k and 10k on wardens, wardens have 20k left in em

It's the dogs that run big. On their website the list the exact height of the tires.

Has anyone run the guard dogs as winter tires? I'm really interested in there winter driving performance.

    Thanks,
