You can keep your Prius and stay on the pavement. What are you doing here anyway?

Just got 23.1 mpg on a 2,200 mile trip. Kept it between 67 and 72 most of the time. I'll take that any day on the Taco.

I've only had my truck for a few weeks but it's getting about the same mileage as my old Grand Prix with the 3.8 series 2 V6 it replaced (around 21mpg). So not bad at all. I do take it real easy on the gas pedal though.

That coupled with the fact aerodynamics , gearing, and engines are not optimized for fuel economy.

Same here. I could care less what the mileage is....haven't bothered to check it since new and probably never will. I bought it for towing a boat and playing offroad, not for fuel economy.

I'm super happy with my MPG...I went from a lifted explorer sport trac that got 15 mpg on a good day to lifted 4x4 tacoma that consistently gets 19-20 mpg! Its a truck not a Prius....you knew that when you bought it.

I still dont get how people here get 20+ miles to the gallon with there trucks..since I've been keeping track the best I've ever gotten was like 18-19..however ive stated here before my truck has problems with control arm and bushing so i think its effecting my fuel economy.....do you guys put like 10 dollors of gas in a couple times before you fill all the way up ? lol

Got 19.3 on my most recent tank. A slight improvement from my consistent 18.5s, nothing changed in my driving habits as well. 2012 DCSB with 13,500mi 3" lift on 265/75/16. Not that I care about MPGs, just thought I'd up my post count.

OP, I'm very glad to know the Eth-free gas will show a strong improvement in fuel economy. A local gas station chain sells it, for a premium during the summer months due to all the boaters. But, this past fall/winter, it was just below the $4/gal mark, so I used it regularly in my Ford Escape. I was getting 2-3 mpg better than Eth-blend. Love it!!

IMO, the only thing that helps me get over 21mpg constantly is the use of non ethanol gas. Even with well below zero startups (I use my block heater when i can) in the winter, and using 4x4 a quarter of the time all winter, I get around 21+. Tires are 265/75/16 big O AT's.

Side note....I have also never had one problem with this pickup! It is still running its stock battery from 06:eek:

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I consistently get 20-24 until winter mix comes in. I put 50lbs of air in all the tires and that made a huge difference. Past 2 tanks have gone into the 400 mile range. The manual recommends 30lbs in the tires, my Wranglers max PSI are 80 so am not worried. It rides a little rougher, but hey, its a truck. Actually rides better than my dad's Accord or his company Jetta I think.

last week I went 117.0 exactly on 5 gallons of gas. I think that comes to around 23 mpg! Boom!
