So today I finally found the truck I want for the price I want! (online sales dept FTW).

Haven't signed the contract but I have a hand shake agreement with the dealer and they are flat bedding the truck in tomorrow.

Now the question is, did I make a good deal?

Here's the run down... (Southern Cali)

2013 Taco Pre runner v6 dbbl cab
    5 speed auto
    Magnetic Gray
    Extras:
    SR5 Extra value package
    V6 tow package

    $25,800 + Tax and Lic
1-3% APR with a wheel barrow full of cash down.

    So what do ya'll think?

I probably should have mentioned that we bought a 2012 Camry from this same dealer exactly a week ago. And, they agreed to price match an online quote that I had gotten from one of the huge conglomo dealer.

Oh yeah, and sent a pretty shatty email to all of the location managers complaining about the outrageous quote I had gotten from them previously (about a grand more).

Quote came from the Opperations Manager, dealership is a smaller but well know Toyo dealer. Cabe Toyota

I just bought my 2012 two weeks ago. I ended up with 29.000 out the door. Same specs. I think you got a decent deal considering it is a 2013 model and they usually jack up the prices every year. I think Toyota wants to establish itself again after their 2009 trany problems they had that year; and the gas pedal issue.
    Have fun with it.

Check one of the car pricing sites for invoice price. If you are below it, or a little above, then you have a good price, otherwise, work 'em some more. BTW, I like Edmunds as they list a market price that you should be able to actually achieve.

That's a pretty good deal. It's hard to get a good deal in SoCal, but you might be able to go a little lower. I got my 2010 for 24,200 or so before ttl, for same specs as yours, unless you have a trd package. I know prices went up since 2010 on tacos, but try Longo Toyota in El Monte if you haven't, they're really good. Eddy Afra i believe was the guy who sold me mine, went 500 under invoice.

    < New owner of a 2013 Dbl Cab V6

    $25.8k
    - $1k recent graduate rebate
    2.5% APR

According to Edmunds... I probably did pretty ok.

No 2013 info available yet so I priced out a 2012.
    http://www.edmunds.com/toyota/tacoma/2012/options.html?sub=double-cab&style=101409422

Looks like I got out for the 2012 invoice and about $500 under fair market price. (under if you add the rebate)

The dealer told me (yeh yeh, I know) that the 2013 invoice is about $7-800 more than the 2012.

All in all I feel good about. Might have been able to squeeze out a couple hundred more but whatever.

I just ordered a 2013 today and am waiting to find out the delivery date. Could be up to a couple months. Here is the run down. I feel like I got a reasonable deal for custom ordering a 13, what do you guys think?

    2013 Double Cab Blue Metallic
    4.0L V6 with 5 speed auto
TRD Off Road + Tow Package
Heavy duty all weather flooring (no carpet)
    All weather mats
    Bed mat
    Front skid plate
    Regular 6.1" radio, no entune

MSRP was $33,100 and some change
Invoice was $31,100 and some change

Paid $300 under invoice ($30,800) which came to $33,100 out the door.

At one local dealer a salesman insisted he's been selling Toyotas for 17 years and the flooring option I wanted didn't exist and no dealer would ever custom order a Toyota for a single customer. I'm glad I've been reading these forums and knew better! It was really frustrating, but finally found a dealer somewhat close who made it all happen over the phone without much hassle at all.

Can I ask where you got your invoice info from? One thing I did find is that the dealer was very quick to show me their invoice price from Toyota, but it was about a grand higher than what I had found on Edmunds or Truecar.

It another thing that was strange... The dealership seemed much more eager to deal on the 13's and not so much on the 12's. I originally went in asking for a 12 thinking they'd want to get them off the lot to make room for the 13's which were already on their way. Not the case at all though, salesman wouldn't go any lower than invoice +$500. Oh well!

Yeah I got my invoice price from the dealer. Edumunds and Truecar have it at two to three hundred lower, but I believe the invoice price that the dealer showed me. They are the ones buying it directly and there didn't appear to be any hidden fees or anything. It's odd that yours is a full grand higher though. I still paid well under the avg price in my local area that both of those sites are showing.

I was really hoping to pay 32k otd, and talked to 3 other local dealers but they were very arrogant and tried to take me for full MSRP + TTL without budging. It was unbelievable, they were also trying to push me into stuff not close to what I wanted just because it was on their lot or close by. I probably could have gotten the 32k if I was willing to travel out of the local area and keep talking to more dealers, but I felt like I got close enough at 33.1K otd for getting exactly what I wanted and staying local at a reputable dealer.

The biggest thing I learned was to figure out what you want, test drive it once at a dealer first. Then when your ready to actually buy don't walk into a stealership and waste a half of a day dealing face to face with the sharks. Stay at home and go to the phones!!! Look up the five closest dealers and call their phone number, ask for sales and explain exactly what you want and ask for their best OTD quote. You will have five pretty good quotes to pit against each other in a fraction of the time it would take to collect them by actually walking into the dealers. The place I ended up buying from is supposedly the highest volume Toyota dealer in the tri-state area. Their size seemed to help get a better deal, and seemed to have better connections with Toyota to do a special order.

Wow that's an unbelievable deal. Hard to believe anyone could get 4k under invoice OTD. I even know a guy who works for Toyota corporate out of Buffalo NY and is a rep to the dealers, he couldn't even come anywhere close to that price with no trade in and 2/3's cash down!

At that price, you could easily sell your new truck used and quickly pocket around 3k cash. Then have your buddy hook you up again. Eventually you could keep doing this and get a brand new truck for FREE! Something doesn't add up. lol Did you trade a vehicle in on top of your OTD price?

Nice truck, but to clarify, you paid $26.6k just for the truck (including your $2k down), before tax and license and other fees. Still a good deal. I paid $27k for my 2011.
