I have a 2005 4.0L stick... bought it used a couple years ago (got $8590 for my '97 Taco due to frame rail rust recall.) Took off the Westin bull bar when I removed the salt-shocked nerf bars. And now the Flowmaster exhaust has fallen apart. It's a bit too loud for me, and I think I want to get the TRD exhaust (why they call it a "catback" is beyond me, if anyone cares to enlighten.) Anyway, my google searching is coming up a bit short of me whipping out my credit card and making a purchase. The cheapest TRD exhaust looks to be $389, plus a mere $107 shipping fee, ugh. Can I buy TRD stuff at local dealer?? Sorry, it's Saturday night and they're just not answering the phone

Or, if there's another exhaust that performs better than stock that isn't overly loud, what would be the recommendation? Don't get me wrong, I love loud, but stock Tacoma HP just doesn't justify it... when someone turns their head to look, you should already be gone :D

"Cat-Back" refers to anything attached to the exhaust system after the catalytic converter

So basically any exhaust system can be called a cat-back, why even bother saying it? That's kind of annoying, just another selling gimmick I guess.
