Trying to grease my zerk fittings on my TC UCA's. Grease spits out the sides of the fitting every time. What am I doing wrong?

    http://www.amazon.com/Allstar-Perfo...F8&qid=1346890160&sr=8-15&keywords=grease+gun

Grease gun I'm using. I greased my drive shaft zerks with no problem but these UCA zerks are no bueno. Is there a smaller fitting on the grease gun that I'm supposed to use? I poked the little ball on the zerk just to make sure it wasn't stuck beforehand.

Where exactly is it spitting the grease out off? Do they actually need to be greased? The reason I ask is because I had a similar issue but they actually didn't "need" to be greased it was just routine maintenance that I was working with.

Are you sure you are lining up the gun fitting with the grease fitting?
Edit: is it coming out of all sides?

Between the tip of the grease gun and the zerk fitting itself. Yes they really need to be greased as they only got lubed, not greased on install. My truck has been sitting for a while now waiting on this grease.

Yes, I put it on and tighten it to make sure it's really on there. When I slowly pull the handle in, grease comes out all sides. Not at the bushings, but at the zerk fitting area. I'm going to try again in a minute when someone can hold the gun while I hold the coupler on with dear life.

The zerk fitting could be clogged up. I cant think of anything else that would cause that

It's brand new, though. There is nothing that could be clogging it. I guess I'll have to just take it apart tomorrow and see what the problem is. My poor truck hasn't been driven in two weeks :'(

Hm thats weird. Maybe the fittings are just defective :notsure: Go to an auto parts store and get some new fittings?

I would think this is the problem.

The best to try is to take off the zerk fitting and test it by itself so the grease goes in and out. Did the fitting thread on properly? The other thing could be that the UCA has some clog in itself. Does it squeak when you drive it? You mentioned that the truck was sitting for the grease but I drove mine for a week or 2 before I actually greased them when I put them on.

Loosen the fitting on the gun till it pops over the zerk. Then tighten it. Pump away till the grease comes out the fitting. If you're doing that and still getting grease, you may already have enough grease.

I think it's the grease gun. I tried another one and it worked better on a spare zerk fitting. I wish I could skip class and fix this :(

9:10 times, it pops right on and there's nothing you need to do. Sometimes though, it's really loose or doesn't quite fit. The grease fitting shouldn't come off the fitting too easily (some argue not at all).

Yeah I can't tighten it by hand completely. I have to grab a wrench to tighten it all the way. I'm changing the hose on the guns tomorrow to test it. I really hope it works.
