Rough country lift

I have a 2001 pre runner double cab, 95,000 miles, street truck, stone stock exccept for slightly larger tires.
I want a little bit of lift without losing ride quality. Since its a street truck, I was looking at a lift from Rough Country. I'm DIY and capaable of doing it. Does any one have experience with this kit, or a better option?
Also, once you level a truck, will it get "floaty" at highway speed?

 

IMO 5100's with 3 leaf AAL > Rough Country spacer and shackles.

So 5100's and AAL's. New coils, or reuse my stockers?

 

I would do Eibach/Toytec and set the 5100's at "0" and you will get 3" lift. But if you have non TRD or non progressive rate spring and your springs are decent then you can use those with the 5100's but you will get about 2.5" lift total. 2" rear AAL should match the Eibach. 1.5" AAL will match the 2.5". Since you are a Prerunner you can go full 3" no problems.

 

I would recommend the icon 3 leaf progressive addaleaf adds 2.5 inches and great smooth ride

 

5100's and Eibachs up front, AAL and new shocks in back. That should lift it and make it level or with a slight rake. If I don't go past 3" I won't need UCA"s. Sounds like a plan.

I wouldn't go with rough country if I were you. I have em and they're not that great, but I don't offroad so it's not a big deal.

 

I had the rough country on my 2nd gen and it rode like dog crap. I kicked my self everyday i would drive that thing around. Dont do it

 

This is looking like it could get expensive fast. Right now my truck tracks straight as a laser. I was looking at getting a new truck in a couple years. Maybe I should just hold off and not fidget with a good thing..

 

I've installed the Rough Country lift on a 2008 fj and my current 2011 tacoma dc and i have never had any problems. And as far as the ride its a truck.

 

Doesn't mean it has to ride like shit if there are better alternatives. I'm lifted 3" and have a smoother ride than stock. Win/win.

That they do. My opinion is that it's better to spend some money and get the same result while actually giving a good ride. It's like MPG's. Sure if you're worried about MPG's you shouldn't buy a truck, but if someone said okay we'll give you a V6 Taco that gets 10mpg or you can a V6 Taco that gets 20mpg for a few hundred more, why settle for the worse?

I could care less what the OP does, we're just pointing out that there are MUCH better options to achieve what he wants if he were to spend more money.
