Water Crossing

I have an 09 DC TRD Sport. I was wondering, what is the deepest water you feel comfortable driving through? ankle deep? knee deep?

This is for driving around the wonderful swap know as the city of Houston.

We got a helluva rain the past day huh? I live in the Cypress area (also hit pretty hard)...I drove into houston today with little to no problem. I am running a 06 dbl cab 4litre trd sport. I went through water today that was just a little above the ankle with no problem. The water level was above the curb (that was about as bad as I had to run through today.

 

^^^ those are 32" tall tires covered, thats about the end of the comfort zone. Luni did the same hole, had a little mud in his air box.

 

09 taco had his bone stock in about waist deep water over the weekend. As long as you hug the right side you will be fine as that is where your air box is

TTU - what part of Houston do you work? Memorial at Eldrige was a river this morning. Nothing was going through. The most i went through was ankle deep. didn't find any deeper (didn't want to).

i dont like to go any higher than my bottom door seals

 

I couldnt see out the bottom 10" of my windshield since it was under water. With a 4 banger bone stock, made it through with nothing more than a bit of dirt left in the engine

 

I only cool with water to the bottom of the hubs. After that it's bad.

But I would be happy to use someone else's truck as a submarine.

Yeh, I'd hope it could at least handle that. I have driven through water between shin/ankle deep in my slightly lowered Impreza before.

 

Looked like a lot of fun... damn. Wish I was there!

as long as the intake stays dry, I feel comfortable.

TRD CAI uses the same connection through the fender, plus uses a cone filter. The airbox would have to be submerged, and then fill up and then have the cone filter suck the water in.....If that happens, you have other major/pending issues at hand.

 

Yeah I've been driving through water all day to get to school. I also live in Houston so it's been a fun couple of weeks! Haha I've pulled out a couple of my friends that flooded their cars out. Sorry I don't have any pics but I'm not taking my nice camera out in that! Haha

I haven't gotten an opportunity but I drove an impala through ankle high so lets start talking a little deeper
I wouldn't worry about it being about 8 inches deep or so but the issue is
you don't know whats under the water (possible debri or the road washed away?)
