Need some opinions, I'm about to pick up a .22 and I'm stuck in between a ruger 10/22 and a Henry lever action. This is going to be a truck gun that will always stay in the truck and will be used for everything. I will be shooting lots of subsonic loads through it also..and as far as I know the 10/22 won't eject subsonics. But that's honestly not that if of a deal. What ever I get I'll most likely put a red dot on it. Except maybe the Henry...we will see.

Reasons for Henry- cowboy actions are bad ass, very reliable, less to go wrong, can cycle all types of .22

Reasons for 10/22- semi auto with regular loads is a big plus

Not a huge fan of how the Woodstock on the 10/22 feels in my hands, no I don't want to change it out Im not gonna mod it out. Pretty much the only reason for the 10/22 is the semi auto part. And it's like $50-70 cheaper...

    Thoughts?!

Ruger hands down if it doesn't eject subs I am sure you can hand cycle it close to as fast as you could a lever action. Lever actions I believe have more parts. Rugers are so reliable for a reason, they are dead simple. Plus reloading a box magazine when the stakes are high is way easier than reloading a tube magazine.

It's a Sun Optics LR4 scope. Since it was sub $200, probably China (their site doesn't say otherwise either), but it is waterproof and like (apparently). No it's not a Leapers. It has 4-16x and a mil dot reticule/adjustments, which were the features I was looking for. Works nicely for a target rifle. No need to be so condescending about it, I am a college student so I can't afford a NightForce like you ok?
    Rings are Millet.
Base is the ATI scope mount (as is the bolt handle modification).
    Stock is ATI.

It works for what I built it for: sending lead down range cheaper than my 7mm Rem Mag.

Perhaps you can elaborate on cutting the barrel down? I just put the thing together so I haven't looked into any of that yet.

He was not being condescending in any way. Just trying to answer someones questions until you could respond. ;)

Adco is a great company that can cut down and crown barrels. Just google them.

There's a pretty wide variation in subsonic .22 loads. I shoot a fair number of them (with the can shown in my last post) from a 10/22. As long as it is clean and well lubed it will generally cycle Remington and Aguilla subsonic, but occasionally short strokes. Remington subs are filthy, though. I've got some Winchester subsonic that I haven't really played with much, but they are a bit long for the Mark II. I'm pretty sure they ran will in a 10/22, but don't quite recall.

Reliability falls pretty quickly as the gun gets dirty.

mine will cycle the aguilla subs but not their super colibri rounds. I have to manually load each one into the chamber and manually eject...but they are retarded quiet...like backyard in the city quiet

Super Colibri are CB caps, I think. They are propelled by the priming material alone - no powder.

They are really stupid quiet through a suppressed rifle. The firing pin is louder than the shot.

How is it that I finally buy another Toyota, join a Toyota forum, and end up BS'n about guns? Odd...
