It's like your power windows...you can't easily force them open, you'd have to pry them open and break it

Jeez guys, relax. I'm pretty sure as soon as there's anything worth reporting he will post. He's already said it will be a while so someone bumping this thread every few days to bug him when there's clearly nothing to report isn't going to speed anything up. I get sick of seeing someone posted to this thread via email notification thinking it's some news only to see it's just someone harassing him again.

Soooo....... Does the window latch (oem) have to be disabled?

I dont understand how it would open, if the oem latch is "snapped"/"latched":confused:

with that said, if you have to disable the oem latch...... what keeps a theif from just sliding my window open and stealing my truck.....?

Hi all, no updates since my post #671 on page 34 of this thread, but I just wanted to clarify a few points on the latch, as it seems to be a common question.

With the new kit design the latch needs to be either reversably or permanently disabled for the power window to operate. The latch can be reversably disabled by placing a small pin in the latch to keep it popped up. Alternatively, it can be permanently disabled by removing the latch from the glass with a utility knife blade (provides a cleaner look). Once you install the mod there really is no need for the latch.

The window cannot be slid open from the outside once the power mod has been installed, much in the same way that you cannot force your drivers side door window open from the outside. Furthermore, it would take an abnormally skinny individual to crawl thru your rear slider and enter your cab ;)

I am 6' 150lbs and had to do just that in my old 2009 Reg cab ...... it was a tight squeeze but I made it thru

This is on my list of things to do to this truck.... Thanks for a great product Ben

I wonder when Toyota is going to jump all over this idea, and start OEM installing something similar

What happens if the pin or whatever you use somehow slips and the latch engages? If you try and open the window, is there a danger of burning out the motor or breaking something? Just wonder if you're better off removing the latch.

I'm 5'8" (okay, 5'7" and three quarters) and 230 lbs...so I'm going to call you abnormally skinny. Mostly to make myself feel better.

The same thing that keeps someone from taking a butter knife and popping out the entire rear window then stealing your truck.......

Primarily ignorance, followed by its not as cool to be leaning hard when the truck is so high that nobody can see you, followed by most gang bangers cant drive a stick......

Hey Ben, just a thought, You can unscrew the anchor strip that the latch hooks onto leaving nothing for the latch to grab. Just two micro phillips screws. You can put it back on whenever you want if you choose to. Easier than prying the latch off the slider itself.:D

The new version is PRIMO! I did mine months ago when it was not invented yet. LOVE having a power window back there.

The switch controls how much you open it. I.e., yes you can open it just a bit if you like.
