I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
He most likely did, it won't happen with 2wd. :D
2wd's pickups are almost unsellable here You can get them cheap.
I am tempted to take 2wd and convert to 4wd for my kid.

they also have a bit less power. kinda wish the stock 4.0 V6 had a little more power.

here's some food for thought genius, what you don't take into consideration is the shitty V6 4x4 MPG + additional maintenance = barely breaking even. it's no secret you love to bash on 2wd, but they are far from "unsellable" around here. How did that 4x4 work out last winter when we had no snow? I'll take my 2wd with 25+ MPG and stay home for the 3 bad snow storms we get.

The mountains in SoCal get snow every winter. ;)

Get the 4x4! If you're asking yourself this question now, and end up getting a DerpRunner, you'll be kicking yourself later.

I'm in the same boat. I rarely ever use 4x4 but when I have truly needed it, I'm SO GLAD that I have it when I need it.

hey “genius" you are not getting all that much better than a 4.0V6 4x4. and you have a 5 luger, and have a lot less weight to pull around/get moving. i can easily get 20MPG. all depends on how i drive, and if it’s more town/city or more highway. also 90% sure tacoma has the best MPG in it’s class. (it’s a truck. so for a truck 20mpg is not shitty at all! brothers silverado gets like 12 or something and it all stock)

i get 18 to 20 all the time. working on making 20mpg a more consistent number, than 18. by slowing down a bit and stuff. yeah we only got 2 snow’s last year. i’v been looking on a tn weather site/forum, and from what they can tell right now. it’s going to be a normal to bad year with snow. so lots of snow.

Excellent link Christian! I had my heart set on 4x4 then decided nah I don't need it and almost purchased another pre runner yesterday. You just resold me on 4x4 :D

    Yeah.
In April I traded a base 2WD DCSB with 45K miles for 19.5K, which I thought was pretty dang good. But, mine qualified for them to resell as Certified Pre-Owned, so that does make a difference. They base their offer on what they are selling for at regional auctions and may adjust for how long they take to sell again (average).

I wouldn't expect more than $20K -- tell them to drop the price another $1K or give you $1K more on trade in, their choice.

Yeah and all i asked for was another $1000 but they really didn't want to. I am dealing with their fleet department now and sales support (customer service basically) and they are pulling strings to try and make it work. Problem is now I want 4x4 too and they can't find the exact truck I want anywhere.

Also, this rumor about the new engine in 2014 has me second guessing this purchase as well. If that does in fact happen, then the value of this brand new 2013 is going to drop drastically
