well after toyota agreed to replace my lemon tacoma DC prerunner sr5. i have had nothing but problems trying to replace it. i found one 09 DC 4x4 automatic basic model in blacksand mica that i agreed to but the dealer sold it out from under me. this is after i ran all over town trying to find a suitable truck. so toyota finds me the same type blacksand mica with grey interior and they ship it from colorado to vegas where i live. i go and look at it and this is what i see.
the truck was filthy, both rear tires damaged, and kickpanel loose with tabs bent. not to mention the dirty carpet in the rear.. and they want me to fork out $3720.00 for the UPGRADE... need less to say im pissed...

Is it Toyota that you're pissed at or is it the crappy dealer service?

yikes. Sounds like the dealers probably will be making nothing off of you and they're just not interested in trading out a truck.

This is in your favor. They've agreed to replace it. Play hardball until they find a suitable replacement. Right now they are just trying to find anything to get you to go away.
Hodl out for what you think is suitable.

no its not an SR5...if i want an SR5 like i have it will cost me at least 6 grand out of pocket...the way it works is they replace it with a truck of the same dealer invoice as the truck you originally bought. being that my truck is 2 yrs old the dealer invoice is 2100 more for a stock 4x4 DC than it was for my SR5 prerunner.

man, sounds like you are making this way to hard on yourself. Sometimes when things seem like you are trying to swim upstream, you need to take a look at why things are not going your way. Listen to the signs...and just roll with it.

Not sure how a truck arriving on a trailer can be the fault of your dealer...they didn't ship it to themselves. Now whether they make it right will be on them.

Wait, they give you a truck of equal invoice price, yet you have to pay more for a truck with less options? That doesnt make sense. I cant see the sticker price being that much more now, even adding 4x4 to the equation. I'd expect it to be 2100 more for an identical truck with the 4x4.

Is the vehicle in question the '07 listed in your signature line? If so you might beyond "lemon law" coverage in most if not all states. Lemon law replacements might be for a new vehicle to replace a current year model. Your '07 should covered under original warranty for repairs but maybe not total replacement. If it is for an '09 replacement I would expect them to give you a brand new one if you purchased an '09 new. I am not sure if that applies if you bought it used. Sounds like maybe you might need some legal muscle.

Anywho, take what I said with a grain of salt. I am not an attorney and I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn last night. Just trying to provide some old fart insite.

You just don't settle for anything less than what you have. Make sure you're talking to the owner of the dealership as well. They usually don't know what their reps are doing, and have no idea they're ruining the name.

i have a lawyer who is working on it.. i bought the truck brand new.. it started having problems at 6588 miles so its covered under the federal laws..they cant give me a used truck only a new one..it had been in for the same repair 6 times to no avail.. hence they agreed to replace it.

this is exactly right.. i have to pay out of my pocket for less options because the dealer invoice now is more than it was 2 years ago by roughly 2100 bucks. this is how the federal law works.the other 1600 is for the milage i used on the truck before the problem appeared wich was 6588 miles.

the funny thing is the dealers have really nothing to do with the transaction at all except to stand there and let me test drive trucks. and then HOLD the one i want..wich apparently they couldnt do..AND THANKS ALL FOR LETTING ME VENT....needless to say this is the last toyota i ever buy unless there used 4 cyl 22r or 22re motored..i mean really how hard could it be to get me a decent blacksand / grey DC 4x4 ?

Don't take it out on Toyota, theres always gonna be a dud in a crowd of millions, just bad luck it was you. Look at the rest of us, we're very happy. Get what you want from the stealerships and be happy.

I do not know the details of your problems but if it qualifies for replacement under the lemon law you deserve a new truck. I would be contacting Toyota headquarters if you feel you are being dicked by your dealer and let the dealer know it. Good luck and keep us posted.
