I received my UCA's yesterday. I was a little concerned at first because my box was wrapped in plastic wrap and had a sticker from the post office on it. The sticker stated "received in damaged condition". Once I got the box open everything looked to be good to go and I don't think anything was missing. Thanks again to HS and the OP for doing this GB.

Good to hear it came through ok, lame USPS had to play hot potatoe with it before they delivered it...

Only 16 days left in the GB, get in on it before it is over, this is an introductory GB, prices won't be this low next time.

So I have enough saved to get uniballs (lol), but am wondering if they are THAT MUCH better to justify the extra money. I would rather get something maintenance free, protected joint and be able to afford something else for the truck. That's why these look so good. I need someone to push me off the fence one way or the other. Not trying to thread jack or anything, I just want to make a good decision with the money I have.

FYI I live in Colorado and so I have access to awesome wheeling, and plan to do plenty of that, but since I have a DCLB I won't ever be doing any serious crawling with this truck. I have an OME lift with spacers so I need uca's for alignment reasons.

    Someone help me out here!

Being from Colorado, how's the snow and salt situation over there? Winter with salted roads is my main reason to go with booted ball joint. At the price these UCA are selling for, you can almost buy two set for the price of a set of uniballs UCA. The money I saved I can buy a set of Icon AAL (3 leaf) to lift my rear. That was enough reason for me.

THats kind of what I was thinking. We get all four seasons and the DOT uses mag chloride ALOT around here. Thinking that since this is my daily driver the sealed joints would be better. Icon makes a sealed (booted) uniball but they are about $1200 for the pair:eek:
Yeah I think the LR are good enough, especially since I will probably be able to get an ifs and maybe a mid skid or save some money towards duratracs... Possibilities are endless!
Thanks for your .02, any other advice from anyone?

Im kind of on the fence about these. I have 5100s set at 2.5 and i have a little wandering issue. I want to go mid travel eventually. I live up in Michigan so in the winter there are heavily salted roads. Would it be a better choice to get a set of these or a bigger brand name like camburg? Iv dont know much about covered boots on the ucas.
    Thanks guys.

I have adjustable coilovers set at about 2.25 inches up front and no rear lift for now. My alignment is within specs. I plan on raising the rear maybe 1.5 to 2 inches, then raise the front again till I'm satisfied with the stance, but that may only be next year. I went in on this GB because the price is great at the moment, basically investing in the future, I know I will need them eventually. How are uniball UCA in the salt and snow? I can't answer that, but IMO although some metal are more resistant to oxidation than others, common sense tells me that exposed metal will eventually rust in salt. I like to think that I still have some common sense remaining, but after the 70's who knows? [IMG]

i agree with you about road salt and exposed metal. especially things that are exposed to grit and mud and other debris like suspension parts. These UCA's seem ;like a good investment and at good price. I also would like to spend some money on lift components.

Does anyone think that i should be worried about the wear and tear from the winter salt on these ucas?

My experience is that off roading puts your suspension through extreme limits of travel that your components don't usually see if you normally use your truck for daily driving like commuting to work. Most of the wear damage to your components likely happens on the daily driving part. For me these UCA's use superior design over the stock units from initial cost to life cycle cost. Also my experience is nothing damages such components like severe off roading. That includes road salt from daily winter commuting. If road salt is a concern for you with a stock vehicle and daily driving it will be just as big a concern with replacement units like these UCA's. A general cleaning even in winter will extend your component life. I don't see these as having any more concern in that situation than the stock units. Some of the higher end units will probably offer more survivabilty and usefulness in extreme off road conditions but probably not any better than stock units in a daily driving situation. Perhaps worse as that was not the main conern for the engineers that designed it. my $.02
