I couldn't find one myself but didn't look that hard for one. Its pretty easy to know that camera is on, you'll see it in the mirror. If you happen to leave it on when you shut off the truck, its not a big deal because it goes off with the ignition depending on which fuse you tap into.

Also, it looks like the one posted by Brianstemm below is a lighted switch, maybe he'll chime in with where he got his.

is the backup camera independent of the radio? If you replace the radio does the backup camera work the same?

Yeah, as far as I know its totally independent. I believe the Entune models show the image on the screen but for those of us without Entune, I wouldn't see any reason why it would connect to the radio. The camera should still work the same if you replace the radio.

Thanks. That's a good point. I can't find anything else local so will probably end up at RS for a regular toggle. I did, however, find a great switch if someone does want to have it lit: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/d...1_-1&keyword=toggle+switch&pt=N0947&ppt=C0335

Looks like you could wire it for different options of lighted or not depending on the switch position...

One more question as i am doing this now. As you can see in the pict, I have already tapped the reverse signal line for my Pioneer HU. So should I cut and splice on the IN1 side of my tap or the other side? Wondering if my HU will take over the screen and always have the camera image up if I am switched to always-on like it does when I go into reverse?

    Thanks for any help!

What exactly are you trying to do? From the sound of it you are trying to perform this mod and hook up your Pioneer HU. I would try to do one or the other first, then perform the additional mod rather than attempting both at once.

First, it looks like you just tapped into the power connection for the video feed, so whatever you connect to that tap will go from ground to 12V whenever the camera is turned on(without the mod, whenever you go into reverse). If you want something to attach to your HU you will need to find the actual video signal and feed that into your HU, you might also need to use that 12V signal attached to a relay, to switch on and off the video feed to your HU.

If you want to use this tap for something and also have it switch with the camera anytime mod I think you would need to tap the side that isn't towards IN1.

Hopefully this makes sense and works out for you. Good luck!

I tried it on both sides and ended up with my hu tap in between the splice and the IN1. I installed the HU a few weeks ago and the tap you see is the hu's reverse sensor, so it can display the camera full screen when backing.
This mod also allows me to use the towing view feature of the Pioneer, which is nice.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

So I was successful in doing this mod on my 12 a while back but yesterday when I was doing it on my brothers 09 taco I came across some problems as our fuse boxes arent the same. On my truck I tapped into the backup lights fuse slot with an add a fuse but my brothers doesnt have this slot. What fuse are you guys tapping into? I've tried a few and am not having any luck. I plugged the Add a fuse into the Ignt 2 slot and now the check engine light turns on. Are there any constant power wires under the dash that I can tap into? I'm using a SPDT Scion switch and looking for juice.
    Thx,

The way I originally did this was just by adding a switch that introduced power to the red wire when it was switched. Not just the end that powers the camera. All was good for the rest of the afternoon. Now, this morning, without even turning the camera on, my check engine light and VSC light have come on, and I don't have any skid control.

    Uh oh.

I used the "ACC" fuse, third from the right, top row. Not sure why you're having those problems... Might be something messed up with your switch or related wiring?

I think we have the same problem. Im going to play with the switch tonight as its obviously tripping something on the guages. Im hoping its a simple wiring mis step.

Just to be clear ive cut the red wire on the upper harness. Back camera in reverse is cut which means success on the correct wire. I solder the left end camera wire to my toyota factory toggle the right end also to the toggle and the add a fuse with two fuses off the acc slot in the fuse pannel is going to the third prong on my toggle. I just need to figure out power to camera wire not 12v with my toggle.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
I noticed a weird "glitch" after doing the 'Anytime-On' mod. Maybe one of you can test this to see if you get the same results.

With the truck in Drive, switch the camera ON. It seems to have a timer and will automatically turn off after about 5 minutes (I haven't timed it yet). Once it turns OFF, you can flip the switch Off/On to get it back On. However, if it turns itself OFF and you put the truck Reverse, it will not come back on, even after toggling the switch. It's like it gets canceled out. I have to first put it Park and then turn the camera OFF before I can get it back.

Just a weird gotcha, but it can be annoying on the trails.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

The turning off after 5 minutes had been known for a long time. It has been attributed to a screensaver function.

Yep.. it was mentioned somewhere before in this thread I think.
It seems there is a time-out on the mirror's LCD monitor. It could be over heat protection for the LCD display, or protection from draining the battery if somehow it got left on without the engine running... not really sure.
It's likely that little screen isn't meant to run continuously, so there probably isn't much heat sink capability built in.
Turning the circuit off for a second resets it. It will time out regardless of where it's getting its power from - either the reverse-gear switch, or manually through your toggle switch.
So, when you put it in reverse, then you toggled the switch, you never actually cut power to it.. Next time, just flip your toggle switch off, wait a sec, then flip it back on.
