So you can't use a "home defense" shotgun for any other purpose? Guess I wasn't aware of that rule.

Yes, because the range I go to only allows slugs and not any shot.

Buck shot seems to be the best for home defense, lees of a chance that it will bounce back and hit you.

Perfect reason for a suppressor! Shooting half the day, especially with a shotgun can be hell on your ears. Especially if your local range only allows slugs. I'd love to suppress my guns just so I could teach my kids without worrying about ear plugs or hearing loss all the time. Too bad NY doesn't agree with me.

Thank you sir... I'm very particular about my selections. And they always seem to be the fewest available and hardest to get. The JIC Mariner with float tube and 5" tactical in OD were only ones I could find in Cali, and the TRP Operator was a long hunt that just happened by dumb luck that Dirty5Thirty let me know just came in, and I got it just in time as a Birthday Present to myself (which is today)

Do you know who had the Socom?

So... it went from a tactical shotgun to a home defense shotty? Convenient

For a first pistol, I decided on the Ruger SR22. My old man has the MK3 so I can still shoot that when I go visit and it's a PITA to break down and clean. I did some research on the Walther and it was unreal how many issues people are having with them! I haven't been able to locate the Browning where I live. I should have it in a few weeks :yay:

I just didn't see the purpose of using a short barreled shotgun for anything besides home defense/tactical since a longer barrel will be more accurate and keep a tighter spread

I'm sorry, could you explain the difference?

Wow I've never heard of that, that's kinda weak. I keep buckshot loaded in my home defense aka tactical shotty

Probably because they've had problems with stupid people firing buck shot at the ceiling and tearing it apart. I never asked why. Didn't care much either cuz the only reason I went to shoot it was to get a feel for my gun and to blow off some stress.

Damn! I'm assuming you're talking about the SR22? How'd you like it and why'd you get rid of it if you don't mind me asking?

My Glock 21 .45 Auto was a police trade in from Kentucky so it came with lots of holster wear. I had the slide re-done in matte black by a local firearm refinisher. I think it came out pretty nice. Just got it back today. :D

Don't get the P22, they are very particular with the ammunition that they cycle. We traded ours in and got the Smith and Wesson M&P22 and although still made by Walther, it is leaps and bounds better than the P22. It has yet to not cycle any bulk 22 that we have fed it.

The more I researched, the more I found a lot of other people saying the same thing about the P22. Thanks for the heads up! I think I'm set on the SR22 from Ruger. Overall, it seems like a nice little shooter to have around. I'll get a larger pistol at some point but the SR22 should keep me happy at the range for a while.
