So those lights are on all the time to light up the cup holders?? Why wouldn't you have put the lights below the stereo so it's not a distraction while driving vs. up high?

They come on only when the headlights come on and they work with my dimmers- just like the flyeyze would- and they aren't distracting
otherwise i wouldn't have posted this mod

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be negative, I think you did a good job with the install. It's very inconspicuous. Got any night shots?

i don't have pics but if you look at the flyeyze site it shows you the green and the green/white wires to tap into - the 2012 plug is different and the pins are not where they show in the pic for a 2011 but the wires are the same
the leds are not 12v so i added a resistor to bring the voltage down to about 4v
actually used really cheap led clip on lamps and stole the leds out of that- worked well as they were already mounted onto a circular circuit board (smaller than a dime) and made it easier to mount
i'll try and get pics at nite

It's MUCH easier and cleaner IMO to just order up 12v 5mm wide angle flush mount LEDs and tie directly to the illumination circuit and then liberally apply where needed. I did some under my stereo to light up the storage bins and cup holders as well as the cubby to the right of my steering wheel under the dash and my center console. I cut out the factory cup holder in the center console (automatic transmission) and added a jumbo one with another LED to light it up at night. I did orange on my Tacoma and my Optima lights up red so I did all of the same stuff in that car in red and then did white in the center console of both. Turned out REAL nice and I get compliments on it all the time. They are very functional as it makes getting stuff at night much easier, especially in the center console. I like the idea and I've had 5 Audis that all had this but with what you have to work with in the overhead console I think there's better ways to implement it. If it works for you that's fine but there's other ways of going about it so I'm not crapping on your thread, just giving people interested another option to consider.
