Driver side door speaker cover fell off and there's a tick in the engine. Heard the tick was common and normal.

Oh, maybe horn could be a little louder. Oh yeah, a locking gas cap and a lock tailgate.

    Otherwise, I love it.

Rear drum brakes. I'm all about function, and that's my only gripe. Not for long though -- I'll be swapping in some slotted rear discs in about 2 weeks.

    Very happy with the truck.

Not trying to list duplicates on purpose.
But just a few, "Hey, where the hell is the..."

    Under hood light?
    Cargo Light? w/TRD
    Heated Mirrors? w/SR5
    In-Dash Brake Controller? w/Towing Pkg.
Radio on until I open Door? w/Any radio! (Wickedly easy mod BTW if anyone is interested)

Neutral Items: (Nice, but never missed)
Lack of hood struts, No Power seats, Heated seats, Opening rear windows (Access Cab), Internal Windshield Antenna

    Glad I don't have:
Rear window defroster. I'd be pissed if the factory charged me for one.
and I live in cold climate. Just look at them wrong and it doesn't work.
Locking gas cap. Great as an optional basis for people who may need one. My old 97 either froze in the cold, sticky tumblers when it's hot, impossible to turn after mudding, overall royal PITA. Finally took the latch bar off, let the keyhole there for the 'stock' look and added a door spring to hold it shut.

aux input for radio-it is 2008, it's time to accept MP3 players.
cargo light-why not incorporate it with the third brake light
rear power window-why have a window in the double cab if you can't reach it
more comfortable seating-my thighs don't have enough support
metal bed-my composite has chips in it

**Access cab rear doors need to open farther. Get trapped between doors when someone is parked next to me.
**Cab could be an inch or so taller. Getting in is a head knocker sometimes.

I agree on both of these.

Access Cab - Even the Frontier opens beyond 100 degrees!
Cab height - I am only 5'9", and I have hit my head.

    CtryBoyinMT,

First I absolutely love your mod list with the running tally of the added horse power. That actually made me chuckle out loud.

About the in dash brake controller. And I am in no way being a smart ass here, is there a manufacturer that offers a brake controller standard with their trucks?

Or were you meaning a viable place to mount one. (that I will agree with)

If you were meaning that there should be one with the towing package from the factory, I think the reasoning behind that is that some people only ever tow lightweight open trailers or small boat trailers with no brakes, others only ever use the receiver to hold a bike rack or luggage carrier. The only ones who would make use of the built in brake controller would be hard-core towers, like myself and a few others. However, realistically, I actually prefer that the truck didn't come with one, as I am very happy with the Activator III that I already had, and really would not want to tow with anoy other device. I find a lot of people are like that they stick with a certain brand/model of brake controller for life.

    Just my $0.02

As for what I would change.

I'm gonna have to agree with the access cab windows not opening. They openend in my 04 Taco, and I fully believe that my dog is still pissed off that the windows in the new truck don't open for her sniffing pleasure.

    What I wish I had:

    - Steering wheel audio controls (I forgot to get it)
    - Power rear window
    - OEM tailgate lock (I installed a PopNLock)

(Edit: Deleted " - Glove box lock"; on second thought, I'm glad I don't have it because I've had my dash destroyed by a thief trying to break into a locked box on a previous vehicle)

I'll have to say the thin paint on our trucks; especially the bumper, the stereo with no aux input or MP3 capability, no heater mirrors, no standard VSC with the TRD package. last but not least, the easily scratchable interior. No way should a brush of my fingernail cause a permanant scratch on the dash.

Check out Nissan paint. This paint is a dream compared to that. Honestly, thin/soft paint is commonplace now.

I had a 2005 Trailblazer before my Tacoma. The paint on that thing was like armor. I had a giant stone hit the hood dead on....nothing, but the windshield that was a different story.

I expect a little better since Toyota passes off the Tacoma as a tough truck.
