Brought home my Trail Team Wheels & Tires!

Just got back from making the 5 hour trip to Bakersfield and back to pick these bad boys up, but scored 5 of the black Trail Team wheels with 5 BF Goodrich All Terrain TA KO tires (only 300 miles on them) for a great price of $1700! Maybe spent a little under $100 in gas, but think i made out pretty well. Pics attached, now to get them on the truck! Believe these were takeoffs of a 2012 FJ.

 

Nice! I have the regular FJ wheels with 265/75/16 BFG All Terrains on my 2012 SW DCSB Sport 4x4. Get plenty of compliments. IMO the FJ wheels are the best looking TRD wheels for the Tacoma.

I've read that the FJ wheels have less backspacing than stock TRD O/R wheels. Because of this, the FJ wheels will give your truck a little wider stance. I have 265/75/16 tires mounted as well, but I'd like a little wider / beefier stance w/out having to jump to a 285 tire (don't want to cut my truck up to fit those tires or lose even more MPG). I thought about adding wheel spacers but I've heard bad things about them (hard on your wheel bearings). Have you noticed a wider stance with the FJ wheels?

 

Ill let you know when i get them on this week the difference, but you are correct the backspacing is a bit (less?) than the TRD Offroad or Sport wheels and it will put them a bit farther out, but i do not think its a dramatic amount and may be almost unnoticeable. Ill take some before and after pics, but i have heard the same things about spacers and think i would stay away from them as well.

Those look sweet! I just saw them on an FJ while on my way to work today and thought they would look great on my truck.

 

The extra width should be noticeable. I get lots of comments about my Taco looking wider than normal..

The FJ wheels are a 15mm offset and 7,5" wide instead of 7. The end result is that your stance should be a little less than 2" wider than stock (~0.9" per side).

It's not a great pic, but these wheels have a 10mm offset (~1.1" per side) and the rubber in this pic is inline with the outer edge of the fender flare.



Anyway, those are great looking wheels OP. I think you'll like the extra width.

They are tough to find, but sometimes you'll see a pair. Mine have held up well through winter although they have gotten a little lighter.

 

Yeah just got mine put on finally and will get pics up asap. Yours do look lighter, think i will treat mine with aerospace 303 like i do all my interior and exterior plastic & rubber.

 

I use 303 on my tires, but they do need it badly here. It is also direct sunlight makes them a little lighter.
