The trigger pull is long in a revolver . The 1911 have the best trigger pull. :)

Ruger lcp hand down, I love mine. I managed to get a 4" grouping at 12 yds with the laserlyte laser on it. I owned a Kahn pm9 for les than a year and the polymer that the slide slides onto was knurling away. The lcp is very convenient, light weight which ensures me to carry everyday

What Chris said about the .22. People too often at work get carried away with the caliber argument but personally I'm not a fan of getting shot with anything. That being said don't think you need a .40 caliber bullet to knock someone on their ass. 9MM ammunition is cheaper so you can put more rounds downrange practicing.

Any gun shops around that will let you rent a piece to take to the range and try before you buy?

Get a 40. then get a conversion barrel. By the way, a 40 cal will not knock someone on the ass(literally) unless you remove them as a threat. But, I will chose to have a 40. instead of a 9mm. I have seen what a 9 is capable of. i have seen a 45 as well. a 40 is middle ground. If you are going to go with a revolver, may i recommend a 357.?
You could use it for 38. and 357.:D By the way, a 38 +p hollow is a great round and you wouldnt believe the "kick" it gives. Just my opinion.

Well I carry a Taurus TCP, 380 cal. It is 6+1 and very lightweight. Put a De Santis G3 with it and it looks like a wallet or cellphone in your pocket. Ammo is only Hornady FTX for carrying.

You can talk about primary and secondary weapons and what not, but to me I feel safe with this small caliber gun. House and vehicle guns are different. Hell a BB/pellet gun could kill someone if placed right.

You have one of the nicest grilles I have ever seen!

Back on topic: What about an XD9 Subcompact? I have a Glock 22C and love it but I would like to have something different to carry.

For a "pocket" gun I'd go with a revolver. I've seen too many 380's, 25acp's 32acp's, etc have feeding/extraction problems.
Also feels good to have your hand pinched by the slide.

So many guns listed here are not even CLOSE to what is considered a pocket gun

Anything made by Glock is pretty much ruled out...the XD line of Springfields is gone too

With that being said...there is a time and a place for a pocket sized pistol that uses smaller calibers and weighs next to nothing and there's plenty of times and places that carrying a big fat heavy larger caliber pistol is appropriate/convenient

Example? How's it feel to go jogging or working out with a glock hanging off your gym shorts? I' love my LCP and it fits the bill perfectly...but theres LOTS of various makes/models that meet that need for that size

Ruger LCP, Taurus TCP, S&W Bodyguard, Sig 238...etc etc etc
