I just received a letter from a local dealership asking for me to bring in my 06' Tacoma 4X4, which I had bought 5 months ago from another dealership, to make an offer. They claim that this is a special toyota buy back offer only given to select number of owners because there is such a high demand for used trucks and that I have 5 days to come down with the paper they sent and an ID to be included in the deal, which I could use to buy a new 08/09 Tacoma. They claim to provide a very reasonable buy back after inspection of the truck.

Anyone else get this or know about it?

I have gotten several of these letters. Its just a way for the dealerships to get people in the door. They probably won't give you anything more with the invite than if you were to just show up. I could be wrong, but the one time I did go in it was a waste of time.

    Too few to list.
I've gotten one of those before. Most dealerships sending those out doesn't even know how long ago you bought the car before they send those out. The usually send those out if your car is around 2 or more years old. It's just a gimmick to get you into a new vehicle. Think about it, would they really give you more money than your truck is worth?

From my experience that's a ploy to get you in and talking about buying a new car. Saturn sent me one of those every 6 months I had my last car (for 4 years). When I actually checked on it once, they weren't going to give me any more than market value for the car.

Waste of time. I got a similar letter a few months ago. I brought the letter up when I was dealing with them for my 09 and it did absolutely nothing. They said I was already getting a good deal. HAHAHA!!!

That cracks me up. Yeah I definitely wouldn't take any less than 30 grand for my truck right now (IF I WAS TO SELL IT) lol... 32 was the sticker on mine, After the 2500 dollars I just dumped into it they had better. But no, I love my truck wayy too much. This was my dream truck when I saw it on the lot and it will be my dream truck for a long time to come.

the dealership here is doing the buy back too, but for 01 s to 04's here its got to do with the frame rusting out if its too bad they will give you the book value plus fifty percent, if your spot does that fuck that could mean a brand new 09 for ya

Just remembered, I had my ex-wife's Echo while she was stationed overseas (long story). Anyway, it had a single recall to replace the oil dipstick tube. So I was a nice guy and took it in for the free maintenance. Ever since that day I have gotten the occasional card from my local Toyota dealer offering 'top dollar' for tradiing it in and 'your car is in high demand'

Thanks for confirming that this is just bunk. Dealers love newer used vehicles cause people trade them in way under value so they can make a much larger profit off them than the new trucks.

Thought they were done the buy backs for frame rot, my buddy in the service dept says they are now replacing the frame on the newer trucks that show rot.
