    Hey guys,
I always got a question when I post

I know with certain auto brands the dealer can look up the service record of their vehicles as long as the work was done by any dealer. Does Toyota do this? I would like to find out what work has been done on my Tacoma before I got it. I know the T belt is done because the sticker is on the cover, but I'm not sure if they did plugs or other maintenance. If I can't find out I'll just do the shotgun method and replace everything that should be replaced by now.

    Thanks, Will

If the work was performed at a Dealer, then, yes. They can look it up.

That was fast, thanks Chris. I'll call the dealer tomorrow.

    An update,
I called the local dealer. They said they can only look up work that they did. There is no national database. It was nice to go in to the BMW dealer and get a printout of all sevice done on my 325i, though it showed to be due for maintenance too. So I guess I'm back to replacing things that might be due for replacement based on mileage.

Carfax gives a decent history on most vehicles if the dealer reports it. I know my history lists all dealer visits.

Can I suggest you call another dealer? I have retrieved toyota dealer(s) work performed on my used corolla. It was from differing dealerships. The dealer retrieved this info from the VIN. I was there in person and it took them all of 5 minutes.

If you are looking for service records for your truck then the servicing dealer will be the only to have a record of the repair’s each dealership is independently owed and not linked up. If you are looking for warranty repair’s any dealer should be able to look them with no problem.

Thanks guys, but I'm just going to change the plugs, fuel filter, brake fluid ( I can see that 's never been done) What else should I do? Rear diff? I have the locker. I already put in a new AFE filter.

    That is exactly correct

Service work can only be pulled by the dealer that preformed the service. Warranty work can be pulled by any dealer.
