Ordered this and hoping it works for a different purpose.

I bought a dome light led panel like this and was wondering that if I cut the wires, that I could hook it up to the fuse box to come on with my parking lights/head lights. Is it possible and will it work? I have a certain project to do with it and these lights would work perfect for it.

Light expert people, help out I'm guessing it would work. Wouldn't see how it couldn't but I want to make sure.

 

I would if I could find one small enough. Whenever I get the light here, and get the mod hooked up, you'll see why. It's just a simple mod I wanted to try. Hoping it will be cool enough to be a sticky. Guess we'll see.

 

I wouldn't think u would need a relay n fuse unless you would b running it for extended periods of time I'm sure it has little power draw

 

I'm creative with lights and stuff and I hope it's cool enough to where people will want to do the mod too and where people you drive by will stare. It's a secret so no one will steal my idea.

 

The parking light fuse is located in the underdash fuse panel to the left of the steering wheel. It's only powered when the parking lights are turned on.

Buy one of these:http://www.ledunderbody.com/Add-A-Circuit-and-4-Amp-Fuse.aspx?gclid=COTjvP2GqrICFWWCQgodPBsAXQ and use it to connect the red wire on that LED panel to the parking light fuse. Then attach the black wire to a good ground.

Locally, our Autozone has the best price on the add a fuse. Around 7 bucks. NAPA is twice that. Thieves.

Well there's that way or just run the positive wire into the fuse slot with the fuse. Either way works. I've done just running the wire into the slot.

 

Just make sure you end up with a fused wire to run your accessory on. Depending on which side of the fuse you attach the wire to, the existing fuse may or may not protect your added circuit.

You don't need a relay, (those are for turning on "big" power) LEDs draw almost nothing. From the pic, it appears that all you need is source (12 volt positive, fused) and a ground.

 

This is all you'll need.

Just tap into the parking light power wire under the hood. I believe it's a green wire going to the parking light but a test light will confirm (also not sure if different colors were used for different years). The little bit of extra draw from that LED won't blow the fuse and it'll be fuse protected with the parking light fuse.

And FYI, this mod will only work with stock grills. Sorry about satoshi owners, but hey, you can always get an idea like this to go with a satoshi grill too. Everybody will just have to wait and see.
