Of all the spiral cable recalls I have done so far, 1 did not require a new spiral cable. Especially yours being a '06, I would guess it will need to be replaced if you haven't replaced it in the past.

 

i only got the truck 1 year ago, but i doubt it's been done, but that's good to hear, if they're recalled and looking at them, i'd rather just have it replaced, even if it's working fine, which it prob is anyway, thanks for the info

 

It all depends on the production mark, they won't replace it just cause you want them to, but like I said, all but 1 has needed replacement.

yea i doubt they would if i wanted them to, but glad to hear most of them are being replaced

i don't exactly know what the spiral cable looks like or operates, but I if they were checking it for "wear" and not all things show wear the same as others like a belt vs tire, but i would have rather had it done, because in case an accident, and the airbag doesn't go off (which is the problem with them) doesn't do me much good if i'm dead. and as jason said about the production mark, it makes more sense that they are trying to identify a faulty batch, vs relying on someone's subjective eye

 

We are not looking for any type of wear, we are looking for 1 digit, depending on what it is we replace it or we dont. done deal. Just a heads up, the spiral cable is located between the steering wheel and the light switch. as shown in the pic.

 

glad to see they won't need to take the lower panel off where the hood latch is, because i have a clusterfu$k of wires for my CB, strobe lights, and reverse camera with NO relay

 

haha, i'm hoping it would be ok, pretty sure very low wattage/amp, just those ebay strobes, 6 x 3 led's and my cb radio, hooked to an add a circuit/fuse, and the wires to my back up camera switch and bluetooth mic are back there too, but the camera is wired to the pos on the radio, so i'm just planning on normal

 

all of that shit is wired off ONE single add a circuit ...?!?! Any fuses ?

to the add a fuse, i only have 2 things wired, the strobe and the cb, maybe that is a lot

As long as that add fuse is smaller than the switches your using ...
