Yes, GM does do one thing well: paint.

I should've clarified, JAPANESE vehicles seem to have an issue with thin/soft paint. It's an area in which they can save money.

What does "tough" have to do with paint? The Tacoma will outlast that Trailblazer by far. I do wish the paint were better, though. I have a couple chips on my hood that annoy me.

No aux port on stereo Unless you spend an extra $10,000 for the right model.

Shudder in the driveline since mile #1.

Shitty OEM tires from the factory.

I was really just brainstorming. In my quest/nightmare to install mine (ref: towing bible post) I thought I remembered a Ford advertisement where the SD's had a factory in dash brake controller. Just thought that would be cool!
For what it’s worth. I tried just about everything to get my voyager where I liked it. I used that cheap not so sticky, but sticky enough tape from an old household window draft seal kit and temporarily mounted the unit in several locations. 1: Below the cubbyhole, I’m short and I kick it getting in & out and something about left handing the manual lever I didn’t like. 2: Above the E-brake handle, the ignition key is in the way. (If it were an auto, may have worked!). 3: In the center console below the environmentals, It worked, but by the time I reached down there I couldn’t see above the dash! (I’m short!). So I finally broke down and got the same unit you have (Activator Remote) and installed it where you did. Test trials went well, I just have yet to haul my Farmall or pull that trailer anywhere!

I'm not disputing that.....I'm just saying the paint and body of the Tacoma isn't "tough"; especially as Toyota portrays their truck.

    Build thread in sig...
they've probably all been said, but it would be nice if the truck had...
    tailgate lock
    stereo aux.
mpg, and other measurments contained in the outside temperature display
ground clearance similar to the 1st gen. trucks

sounds like i'm complaining a lot, but i love my truck, and wouldn't trade it for any other vehicle.

ON STOCK UNIT: Rear Leaf TSB, Leer Cap w/ Windoors, Michelin LTX M/S on ION 133s, K&N Filter, Cruise, Python Command Start/Alarm, Toyota Class 5 Hitch, Metra IPod Adapter
Drivers seatbelt usually twists and fails to retract fully when removed.
Access cab door needs to be almost slammed to get the lower latch to catch. Very cold weather around here (Manitoba, Canada) makes it worse.
No aux in for the stereo.
I have to duck my head to see under the rear view mirror to look for traffic coming from the right especially at intersections. And shoulder checking to the left shows very little of the blind spot therefore rely mostly on the side mirror...

Really, basically minor issues and far from a show stopper for me. Still a solid, well handling and performing truck! I love it!

2)Illuminated center console (thing is dark as hell at night. Can't see the cup holders)
3)Stereo AUX jack and wheel control
4)Front and back windshield come up higher (find myself hunching over to see traffic light.
    5)Cargo light
    6)Tailgate lock
    7)Under hood light
    8)STRONGER PAINT !!!!!!
9)better insulation on the roof liner (very loud when it rains)

    Still love the truck

    • hood struts - added
    • bed lights - added
    • MP3 capability - this irritates me... Every other damn thing plays MP3s now! Even other toyota/scion models! So I deal with a crappy FM transmitter and my mp3 player if I want it to avoid buying a new HU for now. The 6disc helps me deal with it, but shit! Cell phones, watches, stereos, DVD players, game consoles, PDA's, etc all play MP3's now!
    • better mud flaps - One shattered when hit so they came off. Shorter or more flexible material would be better
Probably a few other things that I've added myself. Still love my truck, and enjoy adding things to it since nothing's perfect in stock form. I just think a few things should be STANDARD by now. I've worked on at least 6 domestic cars in the last 2 months from Pontiac to Chevy to Ford all different years and ALL have springs or struts to hold the hood up! Makes it soooo much easier working on the engine or hooking up jumper cables without messing with that damn prop stick! It's like Toyota is the only one still using it! My mom's 94 Camry had struts so I KNOW Toyota has done it and CAN do it.

Power Rear Sliding window or better yet same as previous model tundra

Yeah! I get by without it, and it ain't worth the trouble to fix. But it IS one of those things that makes me think "WTF were they thinking? Every OTHER dial is illuminated!"

Oh, and heated mirrors! I need those damn things to drive and they ice/fog over WAY too easily, and a damn near impossible to clear. (And c'mon they're standard on the Ridgeline.... Be better than Honda, Toyota.)

Easily added though, I did plus it also gives you those cool turn signal blinker mirrors.

What would I like my truck to have though?
4x4 (but only at close to the same price I payed for my truck new Taco at $16k ain't bad)
    Bed Light

The only thing that I dont like is how Toyota cheaped out on the lighting...in the cab (glovebox, center console, etc.) and cargo lights.
